Ectoberhaunt 2025: Fire and Frost

And now the moment you've all been waiting for! Warm up those vocals- tune those strings, stretch out your map-holding arm! And drum roll, please! This year's theme is Fire & Frost, with character focus on Ember and Frostbite!

Before Vlad can finish the thought, the door behind him slams open and sends him flying off the auditorium stage to collapse in a heap among the chairs.  

“HELLO AMITY PARK!” shouts Ember, a live mic already in her hand.  

Vlad groans.

Ember smirks down at him.  “Get out of here, nerd. Man, what’s with this snooze-fest? It’s almost October and the party hasn’t even started? You’re lucky I’m here to rescue you!”

“Ember!” shouts Danny, stepping forward.  “What are you doing here?  How… How did you even get in there?”

“I wasn’t talking to you! Scram!”

Ember drops the mic, but it floats near her head.  She brings her hand down, fast, across the strings of her guitar.   FWAM ~ 𝅘𝅥𝅯

“As I was saying.”

She takes a moment to adjust the mic, ignoring the Fentons and Team Phantom, who have fallen on top of Vlad.  

“HELLOO AMITY PARK! WHO WANTS TO HAVE A GOOD TIME?”

No one responds.  There’s no one there.  Danny and the others are only there because the –  Well, okay, Danny hadn’t exactly followed the scientific explanation.  Something about the acoustics and vibrations.  

“Well! If you want to have a good time, head for the Kirmsse arena in eleven days, because I’m launching my comeback World Tour from there! Be there or be square!

“Oh, and if you want to know what I’m playing? Here’s the the setlist:”

Camp Halfa AU

Camp Halfa AU: Danny and Steph

Listen, he's stuck all summer at a camp full of people that would kill him if they found out what he is. Danny is going to get himself out of there as much as possible.

Most of his excursions take him to the other side of the lake where there's a little town with a little convenience store. He can buy off brand junk food and there's a little rack of magazines that sometimes have something interesting to peruse. It just so happens that the one time he finds something truly interesting - a magazine with Dumpty Humpty on the cover - someone else tries to get it first. This is how he meets Stephanie in human form.

They end up spending the afternoon hanging out together, sharing the magazine and snacks and bonding over how isolated the lake is from the rest of society.

The first half of summer feels normal like that. They text each other on days they're apart and hangout whenever they have a free day from "camp activities." In the evenings, though they don't know it yet, they hang out in ghost form.

Their siblings call it a summer romance and the sixteen year olds will deny it with blushing faces. To Stephanie, Danny is a cute boy she didn't grow up seeing every summer like every other boy at camp. To Danny, Stephanie is a cute girl that has no idea his family has a reputation for being nutjobs.

Camp Halfa AU: Jazz

Jazz takes charge of organizing all activities and knowing everyone's business throughout the summer. She's catalogued all the hunters staying at the camp, ranking them on a scale of ecto blob (barely considered ghost hunters) to Fenton (top of the ghost hunting field).

As Danny and Dani take to scoping out the lake, Jazz also keeps track of all the ghosts hanging around the area, encouraging Danny to do weekly patrols to make sure none of them have been captured.

Camp Halfa AU: Valerie

When Vlad offers to host her for a summer long trip to hang out with the nations ghost hunters, Valerie jumps on the opportunity.

The intention was to maybe get her hands on the knowledge and tech to kick Phantom's butt (and help protect her town with the Fentons, but mostly the ass kicking part). Valerie never expected she'd be clued into the secret of halfas, that Dani isn't the only one around, that her ex and her sponsor are both half ghost and she's about to be stuck in close quarters with all of them.

It's almost enough to make her back out. But her dad is still struggling to pay the bills most days and it would help to have her out of the house for a few months. She even convinces Vlad to give her an allowance for her stay (it's not hard, the man handed her and Dani their own credit cards without elaborating and Valerie intends on keeping it once she goes home).

Valerie spends half the summer having to come to terms with the discovery of halfas. The rest of the hunters are vehemently against ghosts despite the Fenton's efforts to start changing minds and Valerie is tempted to side with the majority for the sake of her sanity. It would be easier to keep going as she has, to see Vlad and Danny as separate from Plasmius and Phantom.

But Dani makes her hang out with Danny and the other ghosts around the lake and the other ghosts aren't so bad and Danny is still Danny even with half of him being a ghost and maybe she can accept that not all ghosts are menaces. At the very least, ghosts outside of Amity Park and the Ghost Zone are much more tolerable.
