* To me: grandparents’ house is the one place you know you’re loved unconditionally when things aren’t great at “home”. It’s kitschy and the wooden furniture is uncomfortable, the pillows are old and hard, but when you’re sat at the table with herbal tea and biscuits you don’t mind as much. It’s the coolest, safest place that exists. That’s what I wanted to draw

* Someone has to explain why I looked up soviet apartments to get a feel for what to draw and was like “wow! that’s my grandparents’ place” and then I grew up in Normandy, France so definitely not anywhere close
