Viago, Rook (Amri), & House de Riva/OCs; Viago and (my) Rook's first encounter. 1.6k w.
[content warning: child abuse, child murder; not graphic but openly talked about]
---
The first time they meet she is a mere eight, and he sixteen. He can he hear her sobbing in the courtyard from the laboratory window. She’s been there for nearly nine hours, in and out of her fits.
Rigor mortis will have set in by now.
“Merda, someone help that child with the body.” Master Andrea grumbles. He turns to Viago, who, alongside three other fledglings, is with him for the day for their medical studies. “Viago, go. It will be good practice.”
“Yes, Master.”
“Run along quickly now.” Master Andrea ushers him out of the room. “The rain will come soon. The humid air is bad enough – you know how she gets when she can smell them.”
Then perhaps she should not kill them so frequently, Viago thinks. He lets out a sigh, exiting the laboratory and descending the stairs. He passes a small handful of other fledglings and newly minted Crows, all watching as he makes his way to his dismal task – fledglings with a mix of sympathy and dread, Crows with a terse nod or smirk.
“First time is always the most difficult.” One Crow sighs. He stops in his tracks, turns his head to look at him.
“It is not my first time dealing with a body.”
“It will be hers.” The Crow nods towards the courtyard. “Good luck.”
As he steps out into the courtyard, he can smell the burnt grass. That woman always leaves a mess wherever she goes. Viago grumbles as he makes his way to the crying elven child in the center of the area, feels his jaw clench at what he can see of the body in her arms – large stains of dried blood across the trousers, and the small bare feet dotted with blisters and cuts.
So young.
Viago clears his throat.
“Hey.”
The little girl before him either does not hear him or ignores him. In the last six hours he’s heard some commotion – presumably other attempts at disposing of the body, but he also heard the child in hysterics. He imagines they left her to it – the more generous members of their house to allow her to mourn – to learn, while the practical among them leaving the job for some other soul to deal with.
Him. Viago sighs.
“Hey,” he says again, rounding to face her. He can’t help but grimace a little at the sight: both children covered in blood, one with her eyes wide open – a lifeless stare into the sky, the other’s filled with tears – puffy, red, and bruising. He schools his face into neutrality. “We need to burn the body.”
“No!” she cries, hunching over the body with her own, shielding her fellow fledgling from him.
“We need to burn the body before it starts to smell.” Viago grumbles, “And before she gets upset. Again.”
He heard the training session from the laboratory. He heard the way someone’s form was not to her liking, and how some girls were not as focused as others. He heard the fire being thrown, the terrified cries as the children scattered, and the whipping snap of Master Suha’s thin bamboo reed as it made contact with her girls.
One hit for a warning. Four follow in succession for disobedience or disrespect. Ten come after if she gets annoyed or offended.
Twice over he heard her strike her full set of fifteen, likely one for each fledgling. Master Suha is very exacting with her girls – “To teach them well,” she always says, and if they do not learn their lesson they may wear their shame upon their bodies for all their seniors and fellow fledglings to see.
She particularly loves to aim for the face.
Reluctantly, he gets on one knee, levelling his eyes with the crying child before him. He focuses his gaze on her eyes, forces her to look at him if only to ignore the large amount of blood coating her small frame, especially the blood smeared across her face, something more difficult to look past.
“You have not eaten all day. She will starve you if we do not get rid of the body, and leave you out here to sleep in the rain for several nights until eventually we will have to dispose of your body as well. You know this – you know her.”
A new flood of tears stream down the little girl’s face at his words. Viago does his best not to grumble yet again – he was never one for comforting others. At the very least she does not wail, instead bites her quivering lip and does her best to stay quiet as she nods, trembling. He watches as she looks down at her fellow fledgling, brushing the hair from her face and smooths it out with shaky, bloody hands. Tentatively, Viago reaches out to close the deceased’s eyes. She does not block him.
“Give her here,” Viago says, opening his arms. He really wishes he’d grabbed a spare tunic, jacket, or even an apron on the way out the lab. He’ll need to burn everything he’s wearing and scrub himself thoroughly later.
With trembling arms, the little girl moves her friend’s shoulders she’s been cradling closer to Viago, releasing her once his arms are under. He was right – her limbs are stiff now and it would be too much work to bend her into a position that’s a touch easier to carry. He struggles momentarily, unsure if he should be grateful for the small body he’s been tasked to dispose of, and wonders if he could leave the child alone for a moment to find a wheel barrel. She would likely go into hysterics at the indignity. He decides against it.
“The crematory is in the back,” he tells the little fledgling. “Come.”
As they make their way out of the courtyard, several fledglings on cleaning rotation pass them, moving in to the area they left behind.
Their walk through Villa de Riva is a quiet one, most fledglings and Crows having retreated to wherever they might go in their limited free time once lessons have concluded for the day – some out to Salle’s streets, others to their lovers’ arms, and a considerable few continue to train, study, or work. He wishes he were among the last, although the thought of leaving the child behind him alone in the courtyard with the body of her friend leaves a bad taste in his mouth. He swallows it down.
“What’s your name?” He glances down at the little girl on his heels. He does his best to hide his discomfort at her proximity.
“...Amri.”
“We’re almost there, Amri,” he tells her.
Their modest crematory, a small investment to make body disposal more efficient —and perhaps a slight show of wealth— is located in the back of Villa de Riva, connected to the equally modest smithy that was built for special interests and experimentation, though he’s heard talk of expanding the space. Several Crows and studious fledglings continue to work alongside hired blacksmiths as the sun sets. They nod wordlessly at the two of them as they pass.
“Viago.” Alessandra, House de Riva’s primary undertaker, comes out to greet him, bringing a stretcher with her. Viago lays the body down and follows Alessandra’s lead, carrying it past the threshold. “And this is?”
“Amri,” Viago answers for her, the little girl jumps at the mention of her name, tucking herself behind him. She’s likely never met Alessandra, unsure of what to make of the woman.
Alessandra offers Amri a sympathetic smile before she begins to work quietly, only sparing some words to Viago to run through the instructions on preparing the body with him again. Amri hovers behind him, thankfully enough out of his way, but he catches her approaching the body of her friend several times, grasping at her own hands, unsure of what to do with herself before moving farther away again.
Once they’ve finished, Alessandra turns to the elf.
“You’ve been very brave, Amri. I’m so sorry for your loss,” Alessandra says, kneeling to meet the little girl’s eyes. “We can give you a moment alone with her, if you’d like.”
Amri looks at Viago, evidently seeking some sort of permission. Perhaps she assumes he has some authority over her. He should tell her to say no, to simply watch, to hold her chin higher and honour her friend, and that a Crow does not allow their emotions to overtake them.
But between himself and House de Riva’s generous undertaker, he nods in the direction of her friend, and she takes slow steps toward her one last time, looking back at him with either fear or something he can't quite place. He can hear her start to sniffle.
She will learn from this, as difficult as it is.
Alessandra leads him outside and closes the door behind them.
“That woman.” She sighs. “I swear she puts more girls in that furnace faster than she buys them.”
Viago grits his teeth, turns his gaze elsewhere and listens between the sound of hammers and clanging metal, and hears the cries of the little girl in the other room. She did not kill this one, he wants to say, but thinks better of it.
From his spot in the laboratory that morning, from its open window, he heard her. He heard how Master Suha scolded them, accused them of being more preoccupied with playing Crows rather than wanting to be Crows. He heard her command them to face each other in a single match to the end, or she would finish their training there herself.
He heard the begging of whom he now knows is Amri, imploring for forgiveness. He heard her terrified sobs and pleading as he can only imagine her friend turning on her. He heard the sound of their blades clashing, cries for a Mina, the name of the other fledgling, to stop. For a moment he heard absolutely nothing but the sound of Master Suha’s expensive shoes step through something wet, and then echo through the villa as she walked away, ending the lesson.
Then he heard little Amri scream and cry for hours.
Tagged by @slothquisitor, thank you! Your WIPs are stunners, I'm excited to see them in full!
Kind of late so I won't tag anyone.
On the drawing board, since I just updated mylittlemonster 01, I'm in the process of redoing at least the pics of the baby de Rivas and seeing if I like them enough to attach them to the fic again. Baby Viago with softer cheeks lol
On the writing board, something from mylittlemonster03 to push me along to finish it sdkjfhsdfds I'm so close.
She’s seated on the stairs, staring off into the distance when she hears his familiar gait and boots quietly approaching from behind. She looks over her shoulder and offers a smile to him, though it’s low effort – she never has to hide things from him, which she appreciates now more than ever. He holds her favourite cup out to her, filled with coffee made just as she likes it. She takes it in both hands and watches as he sits down next to her. Neither of them speak for a stretch of seven minutes, just staring out into the Fade, the occasional sip of coffee, looking at the various paths they’ve walked countless times.
He’s waiting her out. Unlike her with her more direct approach, he waits quietly, observing her, lets her move at her own pace. After all, no one knows a Crow quite like another Crow — including their problems. Maybe especially their problems. She sighs, folding.
“I… scared her a bit, didn’t I?” Lucanis glances at her for a brief moment before returning his gaze to the skies before them, the structures in the distance reflecting the places beyond, choosing his words.
“There are times when we are side by side,” he starts, “that I believe some forget that you are, in fact, a Crow.”
“That’s a compliment, right?”
“For you, yes.”
I think I've shared the bottom half of this in a WIP Wed. before, but not the full thing, and now with at least a few bits and bobs out about how Rook is fully a nicer character Amri plays (to perfection usually, Oscar-worthy performance IMO), this makes more sense now, even if it was written first lol it really was the blueprint.

At the Office™ with some more Modern de Rivas thoughts, ft. The Elves 💃✨
One day ☝️☝️☝️ I will draw The Elves in a modern setting for the singular purpose of: subcultures.
And if anyone is curious Davrin: prep/jock, Bellara: prep/nerd, Amri: skater/punk. And this thought was brought on by my love of sneakers and clothes. Davrin's signature shoe would be Vans (probably Seldan/classic lace up) in a pristine white (and he's definitely capable of keeping them clean by whatever witchcraft). Bellara wears Keds (often with Argyle knit knee high socks), usually in white, but with fun colours on occasion. I think she'd also play with the laces, both shoes and laces stained with something. Amri wears Converse hightops in purple or black. Hers are worn down.
Bleaker thoughts under cut 💃💃💃
In a modern setting they would've been childhood friends and both Davrin and Bellara's clans/families would like take turns taking care of Amri/taking her to temple on the weekends with them and educating her in the culture bc she did not have a fun home life or like any structure outside getting her ass beat and they both knew it so she had a lot of dinners are their places. They would've all gone to school together as kids/teens and kept in touch.
Viago and his mom would've lived in the same neighbourhood as Amri and Suha after her mom passed her off to her friend. Neither of them had a good go about it 👍 bc I said misery follows them whichever universe they're in and I think I said previously they ended up leaving home as soon as they could, and ended up sticking together in adulthood.
Thoughts At the Office™ (de Riva Edition) are always so?????? 🔪🔪🔪 The brain is like girl 👀🧠☝️ what if Viago felt comfortable enough around Amri that he let her do his hair (which is insane but let's go with it) like a baby sister would want to. What if he wore his hair however she did it because he trusted she would know his stylistic sensibilities. What if, after the Antaam thing, after she's thrown out of the country on an impossible contract likely never to return home, he cuts his hair short and keeps it out of his face, for practical purposes naturally, but also because she's not around to do it. What if, when she comes back during the events of the game and sees his hair, all cropped and short, her own hair loose and messy, and just feels. A little hurt.

Tagged by @slothquisitor - thank you :') Also always fascinating and inspiring to hear you talk about your process, and life. I had no idea romance had a Third Act Break-Up??? Learning something all the time.
Pick a scene/chapter/whatever from one of your fics (or I'll suggest one!) and add any commentary you feel like. Why that line? How come this plot twist? What does the eyebrow waggle MEAN?!?! I want the dirt and I can only smash my face up against the glass of your stories so hard before I start to leave smudges.
Since they're the most recent ones out the gate, I'll yap about the oh, brother fics (Amri's Version, Lucanis's Version). I can say a lot about these two since it's literally two, so gird your loins. I will try to keep it concise.
I know I said to sloth (hi sloth 👋) that the two of these didn't start out as a set, but they ended up that way. I don't have a process with writing, my brain typically spitballs incomplete ideas at random and I write them down furiously and work on what I can, and then when I can't write anymore/hit a wall, I leave it alone (who knows for how long). They're both super old ideas, like probably early 2025 that just sat there collecting dust long before I got Amri and Lucanis's vibe so I had to change quite a bit.
For the de Rivas, the idea was originally meant to be a short comic where the misunderstanding of words leads to the argument, and then Lucanis interrupts briefly before going ahead to the eluvian, and then the de Rivas bicker some more. Theirs was supposed to be humorous, as all drawn de Riva things tend to be here. I think part of the humour is still there but it shifted tonally when the purpose changed.
For the Dellamortes, the original idea was meant to be a few drawings/photo set. This entire bit, and like the crux of the idea was these few lines
His eyes fall on her face as she speaks. His hand takes her hand, likely to observe the injury that tore her glove. He brings it to his lips and gently presses a kiss to the back — bandaged skin.
...
Something bothers Lucanis. Greatly.
which were based on Ewan McGregor's first lines from El Tango de Roxanne:
His eyes upon your face
His hand upon your hand
His lips caress your skin
It's more than I can stand
and also the "You picked the wrong Dellamorte" line, as well as a few analyses on it and the idea that Illario might've always kind of tried to get in the way of Lucanis's potential relationships if he ever had any interest in people (which I ended up tossing into the fic) just to prove he's better at something, or to have something he doesn't. I still might draw this one lol. The scene started and stopped in its written form around the part where Lucanis was like, he has no right to be so defensive and territorial about his friend and I left it and the de Rivas' idea alone for a very long time.
Part of Lucamri's vibe once I got it is that the people that have known them their entire lives (their blue-eyed brothers, other family) will often hold things they know about them against them. I know it crops up several times in the things I've written, and it's something I think is a universal experience with family, this "I know how you are" type of thing, this exasperation at knowing this person your whole life, and they might get a little snide or say something a certain way if you deviate. Illario does it throughout TWJ and during Coffee with the Crows, and Viago kind of does it in the codex letter at the start of the game, and there is that exasperation and familiarity when he talks to Rook throughout.
My best friend IRL, Bluejay, is probably the most influential individual when it comes to Lucamri lmfao, and a little while ago when we were hanging out we were discussing Friends to Lovers in a show where we didn't like how it was executed, I asked her for her opinion (as a voracious reader of manga/manwha) on like, what's a good turning point, how does that happen, and she told me sometimes it's a third party, and then I remembered I had both of these ideas collecting dust lol. By that point I'd finally written squeaky clean 🫧 so the vibe and structure of the two of them constantly mirroring each other gave me the idea of turning these two pieces into a pair because both Illario and Viago function similarly to both of them.
While I was writing these two on and off, I was also writing the Crows and the bees 🐦⬛🐝. I actually finished Amri's first, then I finished tCatb🐦⬛🐝, and then Lucanis's version last. In the first finished draft of Amri's, she actually says a lot more sexual things about her and Lucanis just to piss off Viago (and they argued and said meaner things), but bc tCatB🐦⬛🐝 went out first, I ended up pushing these two in the timeline to be after they had that conversation, so I changed it to reflect her stance on sex/intimacy and knowing him more. For Lucanis's version, having him know everything he does about her history from tCatb 🐦⬛🐝 gave me the capacity to actually finish his version sdkjfhsd and also give him a bit more of a reason to be bothered by Illario making a pass at her outside a growing affection to her he doesn't quite register, as the purpose for both fics was for their brothers to put the idea of their friend in a romantic light on the table for them both and that both their brothers aren't there for them emotionally and are unintentionally pushing them closer together as a result.
Structurally, both of the fics follow a similar format: at the Diamond/brother conflict, boat ride bonding, end. With the de Rivas, since Amri is the viewpoint character, I had to establish a bit more of an interesting opening? So her narrative voice is a bit more bratty, and it's more front-heavy with dialogue and arguing, as well as humour (the original idea was based on the dagger Lucanis gifted Viago and then Viago interpreting it as a threat, but Amri doesn't know about it. It's still there at the end, so their entire argument is literally about nothing). It was a lot of fun to load their dialogue with so much of that familiarity on both ends and throwing it at each other since I'm still writing them getting to know each other in mylittlemonster. It was also a lot of fun to have another character to really illustrate that Amri is kind of needy bc with Lucanis their whole thing is that they share, there's balance and openness with them, meanwhile Viago is both part of the the problem and solution lol.
For the Dellamortes, the mystery of Illario's intentions is what kept him largely silent and out of the piece, as well as me not being entirely sure how to write him. I'm honestly not even sure I got him and Lucanis's relationship right. I hope I did. Lucanis is also guilty of the "I know you" thing and throwing that around. Because of that I ended up filling Lu's piece with a back and forth comparison between Illario and Amri and how each functioned as his friend, and how in the absence of his cousin, he's growing closer to her as she satisfies a lot of his emotional needs and is just there for him in such a confusing time. I know I had a hard time finishing his when I got to the part where Lu and Amri talk about Illario (had like 6 drafts 🥲), so finishing tCatb🐦⬛🐝 really helped because he does genuinely care in this way where he wants her boundaries to be respected, in a similar way to how she very staunchly said she would support him in that piece in whatever he chooses and also come to his defense like a true ride or die. It was fun to bring that back up.
I think I've yapped enough, so I guess to close, one of my favourite things about both pieces is how much Amri is just very present. When I started writing rkns things I omitted a lot of details about her in squeaky clean 🫧 and gave just a bit more in to my most intimate friend, so it's nice to have all of her here (and in tCatB🐦⬛🐝 of course), occasionally front and center. My only complaint that I did to myself was that I had to title hers "Rook's Version" for identification purposes, rather than the I guess my now classic "Amri's Version."

Tagging @zylphiacrowley @krisichiki @ambalambs @just-angsty-things @nyktoon if any of you feel like it?
Last Song: bad idea, right? by Olivia Rodrigo. A very fun song. I've yet to mow through her entire body of work. I've listened to a few. Her titling convention is 100/10 though.
Currently Watching: literally just Mystic on YouTube, who keeps me up to date with PlayStation/gaming news (in addition to Game Informer) every Friday lol.
Current Obsession: I am back on my bullshit!!! I'm obsessed with the de Rivas again. I drew Viago's slutty little earring the other day. I live for that thing. It does so much for me. And his bone structure. And his moles. DID YOU KNOW he has one on the left side of his neck like Amri. But I am more seriously trying to finish mylittlemonster03 which also has Lu but there's been way too much romance and soft feelings on my blog so back to the de Rivas (past tense) and all the shit they got up to. I hope to be done like sometime this month. This one's been a WIP since Oct. 2025.
Currently Reading: The Memory Hunters by Mia Tsai for book club. I do believe I did this tag game once before and I said I was reading that for book club then, too. I am a slow reader but I'm progressing, and it's fun so far. I like it. I also finished Monstress vol. 1 by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda a while back (which I think I also mentioned in the last tag too lol), and I would like to fully binge the series (there's 10 volumes rn). The fantasy world building is honestly amazing and I do love that it doesn't pull its punches on the horror. I am also like creepy heavy breathing on my copy of Batman vol. 1: Daylight by Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez et al, and I skimmed it a few times to gawk at all the pretty art. Close to drooling over this thing.
Currently Working On: mylittlemonster 01 art do-over, 03 chapter, and two separate rkns oneshots because my process is my brain gives me a small nuggets of an idea and so I will pick at the written stuff in small bits and for several at the same time.
Currently Wearing: Sweats and a big t-shirt. Cozy.
Last Search: The Legend of Vox Machina to see episodes available and if I wanna watch weekly (which is nice) but also time/energy is a mess so idk if I should just wait it out.
I was cleaning up my most recent de Riva sketch with my 🍏 device bc I don't use it much anymore but now I'm tempted to do what I did with my de Riva leans and clean them up fully in CSP on computer and add a background as best I can 🫠
Tagged by @slothquisitor - thank you! 💗🫶 And as I am seated at my computer early today so the Evil Bed doesn't lull me to sleep for another whole evening, I'm actually doing this one on-time-ish 👍
Tagging @thefrostyshepard @krisichiki @zylphiacrowley @ambalambs @krys-in-the-playhouse if any of you are up to anything, and feel like sharing? Art, fic, original writing, crochet, crafts, knitting, edits, G-pose (someone please tell me whether I'm getting that right or not), maybe even gifmaking? Which is also a lot of work lol
Anyways, this past Sunday I actually managed to get a huge chunk of mylittlemonster03 done, so in the spirit of the edgelord fic, on the drawing board have a WIP of mylittlemonster01's art do-over, and the thumbnail for 03
On the writing board, since there's been way too much Amri and Lucanis lately, have some more Amri and Lucanis (mylittlemonster edition):
“If there’s anything I can do, Rook, say the word.”
She lets out a single laugh – dry and humourless. “What if I actually ask for something big?”
“For Zara?” he counters, “I would. Do not doubt it.”
“And I would for you, don’t forget,” she says. They’re friends, he might even be her best friend, and he is among the precious few who truly understands. “You need only say the word.”
He nods once.
“...Actually. Lucanis?”
“Yes?”
“There is one thing. I know you said it wasn’t that complex, but I’m sure the intricacies have something to them that I’d need help with.”
“What is it?”
She looks him in the eyes, hopeful. “Can you make me a mage killer?”
It's been so long since I worked on this one I had to go back and cut out a ton of the stuff that's in nearly every rkns fic I've put out kfhsdkfdsfs it truly was the blueprint. I'm excited for it to be done. And I'm excited to work on the stuff that comes after.
Might have to make a spreadsheet or timeline for all the rkns things bc someone (me) doesn't believe in doing any of that in chronological order and it's gonna get confusing eventually (ಸ_ಸ)

Tagged by @slothquisitor - thank you 🩷 my brain is always running ideas and I slowly chip away at several of them simultaneously over the course of eternity but this one's slowly approaching the first draft finish line:
Out of politeness, Rook has been avoiding the kitchen. No pestering notes about dishes and desserts. No periodic visits and jokingly asking him if she could sneak something into everyone's meals. No pretending to wait until he's turned his back to drop something into the pot and then whistling obnoxiously so he knows something's wrong. Not a single thing has been fiddled with or moved a few centimetres off just to keep him on his toes in weeks, so when he sees the carrots stacked in a square structure, he knows she's been inside — she wanted him to know.
I'm excited for this one to be done and in the wild bc it's been a WIP since sometime last year, but also bc it's a follow-up on to my most intimate friend, which was a cute one and the feelings have been acknowledged so it's just pure stupid yearning.
Edit: so apparently it's a WIP from January and idk how time works 👍
The brain keeps coming up with like a bunch of half-completed thoughts/ideas with zero ending in sight like omg girl ☺️🗣️🗣️🗣️☝️ what if ☝️🧠🤌🤌 For the Modern de Rivas Viago's father who abandoned him until he made a name for himself died (good riddance also watch me invent drama for Viago that man has so much potential and it's all stored in his moustache) and left him an entire estate on that island in ELT and both of them go there to just. Check it out for the summer, and they then spend their vacation there. And that's where Amri meets Lucanis, bc of course the Dellamortes would have a summer home on the island (a whole vineyard even), and they hang out the whole summer because Amri invited Teia out while she and Viago were off and he kind of wants to strangle the baby sister for that but doesn't because it's Teia so ofc they make up, meanwhile Lucanis is avoiding Illario who wants to drag him to 900 parties so they run into each other and then actively avoid their almost-brothers together the entire summer, and then nothing happens except the almost kiss.
And then they part ways bc yeah, sure, almost summer fling. Cool 👌💜👍⛱️ And like idk maybe a year passes. Viago sold the estate bc fuck that horny old bastard, the de Rivas don't go back there again.
And then in an effort to get Viago to like, actually do something serious with Teia, Amri moves out of their shared condo bc if anybody remembers me rambling on and on about the de Rivas in a modern setting the two of them are exceeeeeeedingly weird and codependent and live together. And have like 90000 shared routines/traditions (and like 2-3 cupboards of mugs with puns printed on them). They are super normal and don't have any issues pinkie promise 👍
And then the apartment building she moves into is nice. It's not super far from the condo/Viago. They can probably still see each other's buildings. They're totally normal. And Lucanis is her new neighbour. And it's fine. It's cool. That almost kiss happened like a whole year ago. Surely it didn't mean anything. Surely neither of them have had lingering thoughts on it. Surely they've both moved on. Surely their summer almost fling didn't involve deep conversations about complicated and traumatic childhoods and bonding over similar traumas and doing some light healing of their inner children and just having a Normal™ summer vacation like any other kid at their big ages. It's fine. It's cool. They definitely don't almost kiss again in the laundry room. Or the elevator. They definitely don't yearn. That would be ridiculous.
The best worst additional idea: Amri gets a hairless cat. She names it Solas. He is an asshole who is only ever nice to her when she does what he wants.
