 Being a Kook definitely had its perks, you couldn’t deny it. 

Hell, if you gave JJ an hour to rant about it, he’d give you a million reasons why Kooks had it so much easier, from jobs to money. And while he wasn’t wrong, you could also argue that it left a lot of skills out. Funny how even living beside the ocean, you could feel like such a fish out of water. 

Sure, you knew which special fork was used for which course and how to correctly dance the waltz, all stuff the Pogues loved to give you shit for, but it was hardly meritable to you. You couldn’t even change the tire on your jeep if it went flat. But that was life as a Kook; never needing to know how because you could always pay someone else to do it for you. 

Not that changing a tire was the epitome of fun, but Pogue activities – fishing off the boat in the marsh, sinking beers and joints in one go, surfing – now that seemed worthy of your time.
