       the  second  the  crowd  closed  around  her  as  she  stepped  into  the  bar  she  felt  the  urge  to  rush  back  home,  to  welcome  in  the  new  year  curled  up  with  a  bottle  of  wine.  but  she  forced  herself  to  put  one  foot  in  front  of  the  other,  one  step  after  the  other  as  cho  marched  herself  to  the  bar  for  some  liquid  courage  .    ❝  getting  busy,  ain’t  it?  ❞

hannah wouldn’t say that she & pansy were friends, exactly, but she tried to be friendly, & didn’t hesitate to sit beside her when she saw a rare seat open up. the cauldron was jammed, she felt lucky to get a seat at all. she gave the other woman a warm smile, clasping her hands on the bar. “hi, pansy ! er, sorry about your hair, that’s on me.”
