maybe you feel their writing is too flowery, or too bland. maybe their writing hasn’t actually given something for your character to do/react to, no questions can be asked and none have been answered, no actions have been taken. maybe your muses just don’t make good conversation. whatever it is, that little writing bug just isn’t waking up to the sound of their words. 

engagement is a key component of roleplaying. the lack of it makes for bad roleplays and roleplay experiences. you do not and should not need a “better” reason for not roleplaying with someone. 

Here’s my full piece I did for @duelmepharaoh ‘s prideshipping fic Black Water, for this year’s ygo bb. This was rlly fun to work on, I hope I made the fic justice. ^^

He had to wonder if Atem thought some of these things through. Because he was asking for trouble when he pulled stunts like these, daring Kaiba to force his hand. Too bad Kaiba liked not only taking on the challenge, but making it backfire on him as revenge. 

He’d asked nicely for Atem to turn down the volume on the TV, but if he was going to be a jerk about it, two could play it that way. He set his laptop aside neatly, crawling over to the other end of the couch. Atem only held the remote further out of his reach, over his head. Cute, but not good enough.

He pressed closer to the other, shoving one knee between the other’s legs and forcing them apart as he pressed his body flush against Atem. His hand settled on the other’s shoulder, fingers tangling with the fabric as he stretched his body just enough to snatch the remote from the other. Rather than move off him, he turned and shut the TV off just as the noisy show was getting irritable.

With a relieved sigh, he tossed the remote to the other couch, then slid off Atem. He pushed his shirt back down, covering up his abdomen once more then fixing his hair after the little scene that had just happened.
