I find it really aggravating when people see a bug and their first instinct is to end it's life.

For no reason.

Most people tend to forget that bugs are alive. They're not inanimate. They're not aggressive. They just want to live.

They're not overreacting or being aggressive if they're just trying to survive. You, as a giant ape to them, have too much power over the course of their life. They don't want to be anywhere near you as much as you do them.

Nobody is schizo for liking bugs. And theres no reason for us to kill living creatures unless they're a food source. But we kill them because they're ugly. Thats it.

Imagine a world where it was acceptable to kill human beings just for being ugly. To go into their house and kill them when they're just trying to get by because YOU didn't think they looked pretty enough. You could be killed just for being born a certain way.

There are countries like that. And we think those are bad, but its somehow not applicable to bugs?

The fact SOME OF US evolved enough to know that humans different from us shouldnt be punished for being different, proves we should be evolved enough to know *any* animals should not be punished for being different.

also I don't think parents "these days" are uniquely terrible, I just think neglect is showing up in new ways as technology progresses. today's ipad kid would've been wandering around in a ditch alone all day and night before. parents not wanting to have to deal with children is not a new phenomenon.
