Hallo! Just wanted to say the Transformer art is always neat to see! Though, being admittedly not too well versed in transformers lore, was curious; do you have a tier-list of the different transformers series? Sorry for the long-winded question, have a great day!
Ive not seen and read all transformers stuff, but there’s a few that i really like, some i like bits from and others where its just not for me in terms of style and story.
Transformers lore can be a bit all over the place and there’s a lot of different continuities and soft reboots.
The lore and style for mine has inspiration from a few different continuities, that being G1, TFO, Animated, Armada and IDW but the bulk is G1 with events, locations and the overall timeline being pretty different.
if i were to do a tier list for the ones Ive seen, i think it would prolly go:
transformers one, the original movie and g1 series, Animated, the bumblebee movie, Prime, beast wars and Armada.
I would like to watch cyberverse as looks pretty fun and more light hearted, and from the bits I've seen, would probably sit between g1 and the bumblebee movie.
There's still a lot i haven't seen like beast wars second, Armada after the Unicron trilogy, Earthspark (but i definitely wont watch this one for the style and story of it, it's just not for me) there's a shit load of IDW comics some i like and others i really don't, but the ones i had read were fun and had cool designs.
I'll put this next bit in a 'read more' thing, ended up writing a lot more than i thought i would kek.
Prime and beast wars i've not watched it all in full but it had some fun stuff and i liked a lot of designs in Prime. these two where the first ones i got into with watching transformers with beast wars being first, not sure how well it would do going back to watch it now since it was the era of early 3D.
I absolutely adore the Transformers One movie, I love the designs that are a mix of its own thing and a nod to its G1 designs. ( similar to the Cybertron scene at the start of the bumblebee movie, super cool to see Cyberton and the fight between the two factions, just love the take on the g1 style but with a little more detail without it turning into a mess)
It was awesome to see Cybertron done as a more techno-organic surface and then built up clusters of cities under the surface, Also love the Guyver feel the the Quintessons ship.
i did wish that they cooled it a bit with bumblebee doing the whole the "badass-atron" thing over and over, kinda went on too long. Ive watched it quite a few times and definitely a must watch.
The original Transformers movie i love and ive watched it a lot too, Hotrod was done dirty by the fandom and in the later parts of the g1 series, hes got a bit of depth when you look past him getting blamed for Optimus's death and when he gets chosen to wield the matrix and be leader for the Autobots, its quite a massive weight and burden to bear as he'll never fill the role Optimus left behind. he was a younger bot who was more carefree and did as he pleased before he had to step up, be mature and lead the Autobots until it all got backtracked and Optimus was brought back online with the help of a Quintesson and be the leader again.
the G1 series was pretty fun, more light heated, its lore was a bit all over the place and contradicted itself quite a bit in different episodes, there's still a lot of episodes i haven't seen, but the bulk of it gives me a good giggle. there's animation errors, massive peaks and drops in quality in different seasons from different studios making it, a few jokes that you wouldn't get away with in modern day sensibilities like the fictional country Carbombia. but i still really like it kek.
It really kicked started wanting to do my own continuity after watching a good bulk of it and mess about with making my own lore and characters, but still keeping that fun feel of g1.
Armada was a bit of a slog to get though, a good chunk of episodes at the start is more like filler so i ended up skipping to roughly ep24? but it picked up after that up and is alright couple of odd things with time travelling somehow? wasn't a fan of it and was confusing to how it was meant to link to the ending parts to the very start of the mini-cons going to/crashing on earth. I did like how Megatron was done in it, a warrior who respects the battle and bots that he see that fighting spirit/principle. Starscream was good in it too, much more depth to his character and integrity. Also very cute how he treat the mini-cons like equals and not just weapon/power ups.
I'm not a big fan of the bayformer stuff, the designs feel too messy and most of the designs just don't do it for me, same with majority of the storyline for it, got very silly and not in a fun way.
