Thought it would be fun to write down my thoughts about my OCs and the way the movies inspire them while I watch the films ♡
So to explain why I'm watching Cinderella:
Philene's mother, Elinor "Ellie" Zintor is based on Cinderella. Much like how Malleus knows the "Once Upon a Dream" tune due to Meleanor singing it as a lullaby, Philene knows the "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" lullaby because her mother sang it to her when she was younger. Ellie passed away when Philene was very young (much like her grandmother).
The Headmage of Rosewood Academy, Hidelgard Àine, is a Diurnal fae based on the Fairy Godmother. She has been a part of the Virtue royal court for centuries, and while she did leave to take up the mantle of running Rosewood, she still considers herself Philene's protector.
Context over. Movie started!
"Why, fairy godmothers of course!"
Side tangent but I will die on the hill that Cinderella is the only good live action Disney adaptation. Because they actually did something with the film! It adds so much more depth to the story. The costume design is beautiful.
Lavender Blue Dilly-Dilly will probably wind up being something that Philene sings to her kids. I just think it would be a cute way to encorporate something from the live-action specifically into the plot.
This is making me want to watch Into the Woods. I love Into the Woods Cinderella. Plus the theme of twisting fairytales... I might also watch Into the Woods
... Philene's father never remarrying not just because he still loves Ellie, but also because he knows what happened with her stepmother and doesn't want to risk something happening to Philene like that. Like I doubt Philene would care-- She's accepted that she will marry for the good of the kingdom, I'm sure she would support her father remarrying and would certainly welcome her stepsisters. But perhaps he avoids doing such because he's terrified of somehow missing her evil like his father in law missed Ellie's stepmom's...
Also hey Lucius. That fuckass cat. Almost beat Azul. Still mad about that. My #1 opp
I've been planning to redesign Philene, but with the lore rewrite about the fairy godmother and like fae blessings and everything, it would make sense if Philene was actually blond like her mother for the same reason Silver's hair is white. Or I guess, her hair would be gold?
"Take the first branch your shoulder brushes upon your journey" as a gift... hmmmm
Maybe Philene still having a little willow branch or something in her room that was her mother's???
Oh and Philene giving her kids magical flowers that never wilt... since they might outlive her too...
Cinderella likes sewing... Maybe Ellie taught Philene how when she was younger and she still likes doing so??
Awww Philene and Malleus making things together awww
Philene being insecure about not having the Disney Princess charm with animals, because her mother did... Ellie growing up on a farm and being good with animals but the only one who likes Philene being her horse. Ugh the angst
Okay in Stepmother's defense. She married a man after her first husband dies, and then when her second husband dies his last words are about his daughter and his late wife. Like her and her daughters are worthless and secondary. I'd be kinda sad too. I wouldn't abuse my stepdaughter but still. That does kinda suck.
Philene loving horseback riding because it's how her parents met and it was a family activity.
Shoutout to both Prince Philip and Kit for randomly meeting a girl in a forest and deciding he's absolutely in love with her even though his father insists they should marry someone else.
"If I must wed, can I not marry a kind country girl?"
"We are a small kingdom admist great states, we must strengthen ourselves."
Ohhhh okay okay Philene I see you
Prince Philip's whole thing is not knowing Briar Rose is a princess. Like Philene not knowing Malleus is a prince and having a crisis because she should "marry for the kingdom" even though her own mother was literally a farm girl...
In fact, it's because Ellie was a kind-hearted woman of the people that Philene places so much responsibility upon herself. She feels she must honor the legacy of Queen Elinor, and her prioritization of the commonwealth.
Philene wearing her mother's dress to a dance ♡
Hidelgard specializing in transformation magic, of course! And having a bad habit of turning things too big/small (like the pumpkin breaking the greenhouse). Maybe she was a Hatelly student lol. Oh and her spells never last long, despite otherwise being perfect examples of transformation magic.
This movie is so fucking pretty omg
Philene and Malleus dancing together during GLOMAS and not realizing until later... awwww... the cuties...
Okay hey random poll half way through my yap but
Should I make an animation of...
Ellie and Philene's father (the swing scene)
Philene and Malleus at GLOMAS
Hidelgard doing the whole "Bibidi Bobidi Boo" thing
Don't do an animation just draw the three of them

I refuse to believe the fairy godmother's claim that the slippers are comfy. Also what glass are they made of those things are study as hell. I like the traditional version where they're pure silver/gold.
Ellie liked journaling. Philene still has some of her old stories saved. She especially likes reading the one Ellie wrote following her day at the ball.
Upon meeting Malleus, Philene writes down the details in the same notebook Ellie wrote hers in ♡
You know how there's no portraits of Meleanor in Briar Castle???
Well at the end of the movie, they have portraits of Ella and Kit's parents...
And I can just see Malleus and Philene doing something similar ♡
