i know people can be a little overzealous in describing political backslides ("this used to be the feminism website!!!" etc.) but it's disturbing to me how much incredulity i've gotten from other trans people as of late just for, like, saying that "biological woman" is neither a real category nor a phrase that should ever leave your mouth uncritically

it is not actually hard to see that a trans girl is going to be a girl in a story if you dont hate or actively avoid thinking about women. you too can develop this skill by caring about them in real life and not just when they are characters. and talking to them even

'how did you know this' every single girl ive been friends with for the last four years has looked at both of those characters and went god shes so me and i was like interesting. tell me more. instead of telling them they were seeing faces in tree bark. because i remember what it was like to be transgender and have no one listen to or care about me so why the fuck would i do that to them

Every demographic of marginalised men on the planet expects the women they share a marginalisation with to simply shut up and tolerate the abuse they face from said men in the name of "not dividing the community". And yet every single time this comes up you get people batting as hard as they can for the supposedly liberatory right of men to tell women to shut up and telling you that you're only talking about it because they're [marginalisation you also experience]

men need to STOP starting podcasts and START forming barbershop quartets. NOW.

very irritating how often i see people anthropomorphize nonhuman animals (especially wild animals) on this site and online at large but very disappointing that when someone says 'hey don't project human emotions onto that bird/dog/bear/deer etc.' a bunch of other people are like 'exactly. animals don't care' and then go on to describe nonhuman animals as incapable of sentience, compassion, or thought. perhaps there's a secret option about how nonhuman animals think and feel that's neither 'they think and feel exactly as humans do' nor 'they don't think or feel anything.' but idk i'm just some guy.

it’s a mistake to assume that nonhuman animals have the same conscious experiences as you, but it is also wrong to assume they dont have any conscious experiences at all. both of these are damagingly human-centric, both will lead you to misconceptions about why animals do things, and both completely disregard the unfathomable diversity of possible ways to experience reality.
