âI know. We wouldnât be speaking on such friendly terms otherwise.â
Nothing on his voice or attitude has changed significantly; yet there was an underlying threat within the words that didnât make it a necessity.
âAnd while I you will have to elaborate on who âweâ are later on, exactly, Iâm going to do some quick and clear explaining since you seem so reluctant.â
âBeing able to see demons is not as uncommon as it may appear, yet they are a minority of the population, as you are aware of. Invisible to the civilian eyes⌠Just like we want it to be. Therefore-â
Green eyes looked pointedly at the teen, keeping her in place while one of his eyebrows moved up elegantly.
âThose with the ability must join the exorcists and thus swear secrecy. I am as obligated to come here as you are of joining this little charade; so I say letâs do it the easy way.â
~* Hannah wasnât sure if she liked the sound of this, yet the man stood there with such an air of confidence it was like heâd done this time and time again. But her Father wouldnât allow anything like this, she studied from home for a reason.
âLook, Iâm not going to tell anyone. Everyone thinks Iâm mad anyway they wouldnât believe me, but I canât join any sort of group. Iâm gonna say no thanks.â Venturing further into this strange tale seemed too wild even for her.
She paused as the sound of footsteps approached her door, most likely her father was home and about to check if sheâd finished her assigned work from the tutor.
âI must have worded it very poorly if you thought there was a choice involved.â
The demonâs head gently titled towards his right, as if displeased by a minor inconvenience. A dramatic, long-suffering sigh escaped through his lips then.
âIt would be a negligence on my part to leave you running around unsupervised, being a danger both to you and others.â
It looked like he was about to keep going, yet the soft tapping of shoes against the floor prevented him from it. For a second the headmaster entertained the idea of just vanishing or shifting into his beloved dog form... yet a thought crossed his head and, taking a step back he leaned against a wall near the door and snapped his fingers...
So that Hannah could see him but his father did not.
Not that he took the time of explaining that particular, tiny, insignificant detail, just pressing a slender finger against his lips and throwing a wink towards her followed by twisting his thumbs upwards.
