Lee is a teacher and I think they should have reflected this in him randomly going into lecture like mode like when Doug gets into his info dumping but it’s shit like him doing “1 2 3 eyes on me” and everyone being disturbed they actually responded to it correctly outside of like the little kids and Ben.

Underrated moment to me is when Omid is concerned about Ben the moment he like wakes up and they worry he turned, like oh my god one of the few adults that acknowledges the kids as strictly (or mostly kids) in terms of needing to be checked on. I am still so sad he never gets to be the parent he so excited to be with Christa.

Ben being taller and having noticeable peach fuzz is important in how he was both seen to players and in game cause he does not look helpless until his demeanor shows or they are reminded of it. If he was the more stereotypical scaredy cat teen and the more typical design of the nerd wimp character (often shorter and more scrawny than gangly) then there likely wouldn’t even be the misconception he was a college student let alone the idea he isn’t a kid who was very likely to make stupid mistakes when not being properly shown things.

The fact that any skills Ben would have would also be useless and even counterproductive cause unlike Doug’s abilities with tech or Carly’s proficiency with her gun his is band shit. Making noise and drawing attention. You can argue rhythm and synchronization but that’s determined by other people and sadly the motel group did not fuck with him enough.

Ben’s “I never met a murder before” line is so silly cause he genuinely says it like a kid who actually thought the like guest speaker during assembly was cool. Like such a “gee-wilikers” reaction to finding out a guy you just met and practically saved your life killed someone BEFORE all this zombie mess started. I immediately knew he was a dumb ass kid the moment he said that shit to Lee, he acted like he was gonna ask follow up question like it would be part of his grade.
