I donāt have anywhere else to say this but my red flag and dumb dirkjake confession is that I didnāt care about them in canon and then I read the epilogues and got obsessed with their dynamic.
I feel like thatās literally the opposite to what I hear from others and I see where theyāre coming from. Dirk is so demeaning about Jake, who acts even more pathetic than in canon and itās heartbreaking to see that they donāt work it out despite the soccer of it all šš.
But I feel like their love is somehow almost stronger there? Itās in the way Dirk so aggressively writes jake off and carefully narrates around him but is obviously Not Okay about it. Or how even the most demeaning, ooc version of bgd still inspires Jake to take charge and leave a bad situation. But also they dont fucking talk and when they do itās not nice at all and ugh I wanna put them both into a salad spinner.
Anyway everyone loves toxic yaoi but then balks when the yaoi gets a little too toxic?? Come on, all the best parts of dirkjake are there itās justā¦ spicierā¦

also, I was not confusing sex and gender, I was just stating a fact! all satyrs are biologically male and nymphs are biologically female. Thereās a transmasc nymph, Delāfi, and obviously gender wise he is a guy, but nymphs are still all the same biologically. Also a satyr who is most likely transfem in some way, but we havenāt met them yet.
and yes, dirkās society is in fact NOT STRAIGHT. Satyr relationships typically come in trios: one is a housewife/cheerleader there to support the other guys and keep the relationship stable, one is a leader there to guide the others, and one is just there to fuck shit up and keep stuff interesting.
also, mpreg. They havenāt fully explained how yet, but the satyrs can get pregnant. Also they have menstrual cycles. So dirkās transness definitely became integrated into their society!
one interesting thing is that the nymphs donāt have periods like the satyrs do, and one of the nymphs was straight up making fun of Swiss for his āhormone-crazed ramblingsā. The whole interaction just felt like it existed to canonise Dirk as transgender to be honest, because thereās literally no way he made a society of men who are victimised for having these qualities without it coming from his own experience.

I will say maybe you arenāt confusing sex and gender but you might be mistaking gender for their species. Satyr is the species male is the gender since there are no women (as of yet so far blah blah blah). And like, if someone can get pregnant thereās gotta be someone who can get em pregnant, physically their system would need to be massively complex for EVERYSATYR to both have the ability to get another pregnant and to become pregnant, they would also need both sets of sex organs, unless theyāre out there hyena-ing it. (Which if they were that fuckin sucks but ig dirk dngaf).
Also also the can get pregnant and have periods, so if sex and gender and species are the same thing everyone in that society is a trans dude, therefore I guess yeah fuck it no oneās trans. Everyoneās dudes. Biologically speaking there does have to be a difference, breeding clones doesnāt ever end well, thereās gotta be some difference; and there is, because no one else is unlucky enough to look like Dirk like Swiss does.
You canāt really be born male then transition to be, more male. He/him to he-er/him-er so thereās gotta be some marker that somewhere ELSE would mean the society doesnāt consider you male.
The writing team is just doing whatever tf they want I donāt think they care if it makes sense so I do not care to reason with their talking points without adding stuff of my own.
what I miss from the original comic is how predictable every character is, Iāve been flying from those minimal interactions with Dirk and have apparently been more right than I have been wrong, and that does take at least semi decent writing abilities, I can see the sense in the choices he makes, but I also see the writers barely disguised fetishes and character hatred, which is what really drives me off reading. Male pregnancy is a really sensitive subject for a lot of trans men, and Iām not excited to see what they do with it.

I donāt mean to come off as rude, I am just purely curious if thereās any specific reasoning behind it ā why do you depict Swiss as a trans guy when heās evidently not? Cause the deltritans live in a world where their species and sex are the same thing (like, nymphs are biologically female and satyrs are biologically male), so obviously Swiss wouldnāt be trans. Do you have any reasoning for headcanoning him as such, or do you just like to depict trans people in your art? Real reason I donāt read the extra shit, I only know about him because my council brought him to my attention. What I have read and do know is Graeco-Roman influences, Dirk Strider, and Wonder Woman.
Being trans is an intrinsic part of your personality when youāre trans, itās an immutable fact of your personhood that is present in every choice every thought every action of yours-sometimes consciously sometimes not. I donāt believe that Dirk, as a trans man, would exclude the possibility of transness in his own special little snowflake world; doing so would separate transmasculine people from the category of āmenā, as much as a self hater as he is heās never unsure that he is a man.
Youāve also made the easy mistake of equating sex to gender, which are not the same thing. Sex is biological gender is a social construct, and in a society where only men exist gender becomes the deciding factor while sex is what is fluid. Not that I know but I also assume itās a lot easier to set restrictions around society than biology-there is not a place that can exist in a self sustaining system that doesnāt have people who can give birth, or people who are born with a wide mix/range of X and Y chromosomes.
Women might not exist but that just means there needs to be a group of people who can do what they do (again, birth), itās immaterial what you have and what you can do with it but excluding it all together is asking for the bacteria in your Petri dish to die after one lifecycle. Being biologically male means jack fuck when there is no such thing as a woman, thatās like saying an elephant is biologically and earth creature. Duh it is, because there are no creatures from mars (allegedly).
I also base whatever the fuck is happening on pony island to Themyscira, the Amazonian island from DC comics where Wonder Woman comes from. Every person born there is a woman, some have extra parts, some donāt, doesnāt matter they all identify as women, and only those who are women can live there. (AFAIK they go off island to breed but like hell would dirk create a society where men are straight)
You also gotta remember Dirk is the fucking Guy there, his scars/chest a defining feature people WOULD copy to invoke his favor. Is Swiss trans or are the scars a coming of age ceremonial thing? Are they tattoos akin to prayer beads forever etched into his skin? At the end of the day heās a guy because thatās what he says he is, whatās going on under his clothes doesnāt matter. Also heās a child so who cares what heās holding.
