Ma wasn’t always around, so a lot of the time it was just the two of us. You know, Trudy had the best imagination. As long as I could turn it into a story or a game, she wasn’t afraid of anything. I used to tell her that if we waved at the Japanese bombers that they would just keep flying and they’d leave us alone. And no bombs would fall on us as long as we sang. We used to skip to the shelter, singing “Follow the Yellow Brick Road.”

It changes everything.
