people make shaving out to be some rite of passage of “girlhood” but it’s not a positive experience at all. it’s not contributing to you growing up or coming of age. having to shave for the first time is really scary, because you’re being told that the way your body is changing is unnatural and wrong and you need to do something about it - and, essentially, it’s necessary to do so to be considered attractive and “normal”. And this is something that you are expected to do for the rest of your life. why is that normal? why is that girlhood? it’s upsetting and scary and really evil to do to little girls
