No, I’m not Indian, just a historian. India is a beautiful country, with a fascinating history, a rich variety of culture, stunning ecosystems, beautiful music, stunning artwork, and an incredible linguistic landscape. The problems the country faces stem directly from colonialism, and the people deserve better. I know reblogging a tumblr post is hardly doing anything, but the international attitude towards India is appalling; people should be talking about it, not brushing off anything related to the country. India has been done so wrong for the past several centuries- I hope the protests are wildly successful, and I hope the Indian people thrive.
