Gather Round: A Princess Tutu Zine

We currently plan the zine to be 23 pages minus the cover and inside cover! 20 artists, and 3 pages for credits/thank yous!

It’s tricky to give you a precise list, but some of things we were looking for included (in no particular order):

evidence of ability to create print/full page compositions

evidence of ability to create interesting and unique backgrounds

evidence of interesting colour schemes and lighting

consistent anatomy etc.

We were also looking a variety of art styles. But as we’ve said before, there were a lot of artists who had all these things, and only missed out because, without knowing we would get this many fantastic responses, we planned a smaller zine!

We’re just waiting for a few artists to respond to their emails, and a few other artists haven’t joined the Discord yet! We’ll be sending reminders after a week to make sure artists have gotten their notifications, so probably.....just after first artist check-in (1/9), in two weeks-ish at least. 

We want to make sure that everyone has time to settle in, confirm that artists are available for scheduled check-in dates, and finalise suppliers so we can give artists full work guidelines, before we announce everything.

We would definitely be announcing it here, so everyone who has followed this zine would know about it! We would also post in the Princess Tutu tag!

We’re afraid not! Applications closed on the 1st of August, and results were mostly released on the 12th. 

The mods are still working on getting the full results out, as they’re a bit overwhelmed this week with irl commitments, and gmail is very slowly telling us which emails have or have not been successfully sent (we have over 100 delay emails, and are receiving more every few minutes ToT).

If you applied for both graphic designer and zine/merch artist, you will receive an email about both

If you STILL have not received a notification after this post, we must be making typos in your email, so please send us an ask and we’ll let you know in private

We believe the problem has been caused by one of our email accounts being blocked for sending too many emails at once - we will be resending all emails associated with this email address ASAP.

We do ask for your patience, however, as mods are simultaneously experiencing PC technical trouble, and speedy record access is therefore limited.

I just wanted to ask. Do you also get an email if you weren't chosen?

You ought to! If you have not received any notification from us within a few hours, and checked your spam files, please do let us know and we can either resend it, or let you know in a private ask/message.

First of all, let us express how genuinely honoured we feel that so many talented and passionate artists have expressed an interest in being involved with Gather Round: a Princess Tutu Zine. You’re all our gosh-dang heroes.

Unfortunately, with so many wonderful applicants, we’ve had to make some tough decisions. Many exceptional artists will find that they have been rejected not because of any deficit, but because there are just too many artists for everyone to get involved this time.

We hope that everyone will continue to support this zine, which will allow us to live the dream, and one day - maybe next year - run another zine!

In the meantime, we would encourage everyone to take advantage of our Discord, and to continue sharing the Tutu love!

No, we haven’t yet! We announced a few days ago that we’ve delayed acceptances/rejections until August 12th, but thanks for reminding us to remind you - sorry for any confusion!

Don’t stress - they haven’t gone out yet! Also, since you’re asking, we hope you don’t mind us using your ask to announce that unfortunately we will be having to put the response deadline back. 

We’re now aiming for August 12th to be sending out offers and rejections! We do apologise for the delays!

We’ll be posting about this a few times in the next little while, to make sure everyone has the chance to see it.
