Hey!
It's been a while since I last posted, but I just wanted to update with info, particularly that I have a new set up now (a PC, wowee!) and will be returning to making digital art again soon! Along with, I am currently learning Krita, instead of the prior program I used to use, so it will take a moment before I'll be back to creating again.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Hello, I am a beginner artist and part of the Minecraft fandom, particular the V/Illager part (most of my Minecraft-related content is found on alt blog: Realm of Myriad) I am curious of what shapes do you use to draw the body base. Do you use circles? Squares? Triangles? I really want to get better with drawing.
Also, here’s my parting gift:
My “Nitwit” Villager OC, Florence, gives your Villager OC, Pim, a cornflower because he finds it cool thst he’s not the only Nitwit trying to find a job (or rather master all the jobs) that he could get into without harming himself (because he has really bad luck in breaking things).
Hello! Oh man, wasn't expecting to be asked advice! First of all, thank you very much.
There's so much I could say here. When it comes to shapes, it's good to understand shape language and anatomy. Squares are often used for sturdiness or bulk, circles for smoothness or soft features, and triangles for sharpness or to slim down a form. I actually use each, in different mixtures depending on what I am drawing! What is also important is that it's not just shapes, but understanding them in a 3-dimensional space.
For Pim, for example, I use a sphere/circle for their head, a cube/square for their chest & pelvis, and cubes/squares for their palms & feet. For their legs & arms I use more of a cylinder, and I connect areas like their chest and pelvis with somewhat slimmer lines, kind of like taking two triangles, pointing them at each other, and pushing them into each other. (Really, though, I don't use straight up shapes as much anymore, but that's just because I've gotten familiar with drawing humanoid anatomy. I still practice regularly, though, and I myself can still improve.)
This, of course, isn't the only way to do this. If you're wanting to understand shapes and anatomy, I'd recommend practicing the basics and building up from there. This can mean studying actual people, characters you like, or whatever else helps you best. Have fun with it! I'm no expert, I'm genuinely just a fellow artist who enjoys drawing, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
And in response to Florence...
Pim has a gift in return! (They tend to forage all sorts of goods, both for themself and for others.)
Vlada doodle
Been in a bit of a block, still trying to get my hands on a new laptop so I can do digital again.
I hope everyone's having a wonderful day/night!
Villager and Illager peace talks

I love Vlada and their design, so I tried to drawn that one headshot of him you did
Thank you! I think you did very well, and I'm glad you like their design!
Hope you're having a good day/night.
before I even expand on Pim & their family/village, I get the idea for an illager...
Vlada! He's a vindicator, been messing around with the idea. She flip-flops between being relatively laid-back and being even more abrasive than a ravager. Really depends on when & where.
Trying to figure out if I want them to have earrings, possibly even one or two other piercings. Most of the design I'm pretty happy with, though.

a few doodles, I need to get around to establishing a bit more info on a few more characters and then I'll introduce them properly.
Been a nice birthday, tho
Was inspired by @brightgoat and their Minecraft : My World au, which is very rad. So I ended up making a character (possibly a few more related to said character, we shall see) named Pim! They're a nitwit villager who tries just about anything and everything in the hope of finding her 'trade' which, unfortunately, hasn't been successful yet.
I also have a few doodles of messing around with the design and figuring them out. Still unable to do digital rn, so unfortunately these probably won't look the best due to my camera quality.
