     if she was being honest harper wasn’t looking forward to      being judged on her ability to work in teams. she was      more of support than a trained rushing into combat agent.      not that she wasn’t  against combat- just she knew what      she was better at. she had taken extra care in suiting up for                her mission today, making sure every part of her was covered,      (save her head), before heading over. her team found her      before she found them. “uh.” plans. “you’re a quill, right?       if you inherited your mother’s powers- you can phase      through walls with civilians easy enough.”

     she hadn’t realized her sweater had been torn until it      was too late. the worn cotton had torn does the side of      her arm, exposing her skin to the world, and, to the touch      of another person as they shoved past her in the hallway.      harper had bit back a gasp at the contact, eyes widening      as her powers activated against her will. DARK HAIR,      TOOTHY SMILE, RIDING A BIKE FOR THE FIRST TIME,      A BIG BROTHER SMILING AT THEM- HER?- BEFORE      LEAVING, THE CAR WRECK, WHERE IS HE? WHERE IS-       “fuck.” leaning against the wall the girl shook her head as      someone came over to check on her, groaning. “i’m- sorry. i-      where are we?” center yourself, like mom said. you’re harper      johnson. you’re at- somewhere. that was someone else’s life. not yours.

                       “don’t you have class, foster?” harper tilted their                          head as she stepped outside, pulling their cardigan                         tight around them as she eyed her sibling and the                         hammock they were laying in. “you can’t skip your                         entire first year.”

                       there’s a rush of anger to her core, the inhuman balling her fists up,                        gloves rubbing against her skin as she does so. “what?” harper tries                        to bite back the resentment in her voice, pupils dilating as she breathes                        through the emotion. “we have to work together for a mission. teams,                        remember?”
