Just saw today that iStockPhoto has come out with a new panel for Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator that lets you browse their stock collection right from within the apps themselves as a panel. You need to have CS5 or above and of course be using iStockPhoto for this. The panel is a free download though from the iStockPhoto website.
If you didn't know...
If you have a series of contiguous thumbnails that you wish to select or deselect, you can follow the same steps you would in the Library module in Photoshop Lightroom or Adobe Bridge's Content panel. Click the first thumbnail in the series, press and hold Shift, and then click the last thumbnail in the series, then select or deselect any of the thumbnails to enable or dim them all. You can reselect the entire series using the same technique.

Do you have color artifacts after sharpening?
If you do (and let me assure you, it is NOT rare), Here is how to solve it:
Make sure you use the Smart Sharpen window to do your sharpening
After playing the filter click on Edit > Fade Smart Sharpen
In the Fade dialog box choose Luminosity under the Mode drop down
Want to go further and do this non destructively?
Convert the layer to be sharpened into a Smart Object (no relation) Â by right clicking on the layer and selecting Convert to Smart Object, then choose Filter and click on Convert for Smart Filters, then apply the smart sharpen filter, you will be able to revisit the filter and change the setting any time you want.
Now instead of using the fade command to get rid of chromatic abberations, simply right click on the Smart Sharpen layer in the layer pallete and choose Edit Smart Filter Blending Options and here change the blending mode to Luminosity.
A new online tool to help you find just the right font.

Parallax
parâ˘alâ˘lax |'parÉ,laks|
noun
the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed
from different positions, e.g., through the viewfinder and the lens of a camera.
ORIGIN late 16th cent. (also in the general sense [fact of seeing wrongly] ): from French
parallaxe, from Greek parallaxis âa change,â from parallassein âto alternate,â
based on allassein âto exchangeâ (from allos âotherâ ).
How does that affect Photography?
Parallax error can be seen when taking photos with many types of cameras, such as twin-lens reflex cameras and those including viewfinders (such as rangefinder cameras). In such cameras, the eye sees the subject through different optics (the viewfinder, or a second lens) than the one through which the photo is taken. As the viewfinder is often found above the lens of the camera, photos with parallax error are often slightly lower than intended, the classic example being the image of person with his or her head cropped off. This problem is addressed in single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras, in which the viewfinder sees through the same lens through which the photo is taken (with the aid of a movable mirror), thus avoiding parallax error.
If you have an old camera that is not a SLR camera, I hope this entices you to get a new one!
Interpolation (Definition)

Photoshop Elements and Windows Vista 64 bits
I get asked a lot if Photoshop Elements works with Windows Vista , the 64bits version
First I wish people that don't need a 64 bit system would stop getting it. THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE TO IT, but for the use of more memory (the 32 bit version is limited to 3GB of RAM, 64bit version is not). Only if you have a program that absolutely needs you to have a 64 bit OS, say away from it! there are a LOT of things that won't work with it, not just Photoshop Elements.
Photoshop Elements does work (i have version 7 running on a Windows Vista 64 bit laoptop) but I am one of the lucky few that did not have any problems installing it.
There are a number of considerations when deciding whether to run PSE on Vista 64:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Many people have reported on the Adobe forums and Elements Village that PSE 5.0.2, PSE 6, and PSE 7 run fine on Vista 64.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Adobe does not provide customer support for PSE 6 and earlier versions on Vista 64:
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403403
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Adobe has a distribution agreement with Dell to sell PSE 7 preloaded on Dell XPS desktops that have Vista 64 only, implying that Adobe supports PSE 7 on Vista 64, at least on Dells.
-         As of 3/7/2009, Adobe doesnât explicitly state whether it provides customer support for PSE 7 on Vista 64. The System Requirements now state âCertified for 32-bit version of Windowsâ, which vaguely implies they donât support Vista 64 (but why donât they just say that?). There are some tech notes that mention Vista 64 without saying that it is unsupported, and the Read Me explicitly mentions one minor issue with Vista 64 without saying that it is unsupported. So someone buying PSE could reasonably assume that Adobe supports PSE 7 on Vista. However, at least one person has reported that Adobe Technical Support told them that PSE 7 is unsupported on Vista 64.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Thereâs no advantage to Vista 64 unless you have more than 3 GB of memory.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Youâll need a new set of drivers for your peripherals, and some vendors still donât provide 64-bit drivers. For example, Nikon doesnât provide Vista 64 drivers for its Coolscan scanners.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Vista 64 does a very good job of running programs developed for 32-bit Windows XP and Vista, but it isnât perfect. You should research the compatibility of your favorite programs.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A program developed for 32-bit Windows will be limited on Vista 64 to using no more than 2 GB of memory (infrequently, it can use 3 GB), the same as on Vista 32. There is still some advantage to having Vista 64 if you want to run other memory-intensive programs concurrently, since together they may be using more than 3 GB.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Of Adobe programs, PSE is 32-bit only, while Photoshop and Lightroom have 64-bit versions. I donât know about Premier Pro or Elements.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â If youâre editing ânormalâ sized photos, an Adobe Lightroom blog says to expect only modest 10% speed improvements from Vista 64. Iâd guess that you should expect similar modest improvements with PSE, but I havenât read anything authoritative.
My answer would be if you are runnign 64bits , run at your own risk.

Free Online Meeting Room with Whiteboard
I get asked a lot if I know of a website that offers a meeting room or Whiteboard software fro free.
Acrobat.com does just that and SO MUCH more!
You and 3 friends and meet online and colaborate on projects. You can open a file and use the white board to annotate it and then save the whole thing as a PNG so you can finish the project, oh and you can do it FREE!
For those that believe there is no such thing as a free lunch, the catch is that you will fall in love with the service and will want to upgrade... they have services starting at $0.32/minute/user or $375/month
This is SO much better than WebEx because it uses Flash Player, which is installed in over 90% of the computers connected to the internet, so that means there is nothing else to install and therefore less things to not work.
I have used both and honestly I don't see why anyone would choose WebEx after they have used Adobe Connect. WebEx is cheaper at first look but then you find out you need an annual comitment, and you are limited on the number of users you can have at a time.
Even Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama use Adobe Connect!
If you have used either service please feel free to comment and share your experience!
