Maledictus Incorrect Quotes
Henryk: Donât overreact
Malachi, already digging his grave and shoveling dirt on himself:Â Iâm not
dresden.
âAdmit it, you missed me.â He clicked the top of his pen against his thigh, offering Henryk that trademark shit-eating grin before going to town jotting down numbers in the ledger. It took a few days for his hands to feel comfortable enough to grab things, and while the scars were still present, Dresden at least looked back to his old self. âI was the life in this damn place, I think we both know that.â And his teasing was at no endâanother indication heâd at least managed to move on from his latest near-death experience.Â
His hand paused, eyes narrowing in thought before he crossed out a number and corrected it immediately. Damn replacement made everything so disorganized, and he didnât like his things messed with, even if it was just a book of monetary valuesânot to mention their hand writing was intolerable.
âAnything interesting happen while I was out? I donât like being out of the loopâJesus Christ, did you have a five year old replace me? Look at this shitâŚâ He crossed out a couple more incorrect values, and while it didnât show that much was off from the previous nightâs earnings, it was still annoying. âAlright, all set. You jumping in the ring tonight? Itâs always a treat when you do.â
âI missed your teasing game.â He grinned at that, always amused by the faerie. Henryk wasnât a huge fan of other species, but it was a good time to start making friends outside of the vampire circles. He was pretty sure feeding off his own kind would make him far less popular with them. âJust more of the same old chaos and mayhem.âÂ
Taking a seat by him, he looked around the pit. âIs it that bad of a job? Because thereâs still time to rip his head off.â Henryk eyed the ring when he brought it up, and his lips curled into a smirk. âIâve been bad, Dres. Itâs better if I fly under the radar for a while.â He had no confidence spilling vampire blood wouldnât set him off. He still had to get the whole thing under control. âIâve been thinking... and I feel like we need to throw a massive party upstairs. Shake things up a little. Iâm bored.â And a little depressed, for whatever reason. âIâm thinking... dressing up the girls as the hot version of horror movie villains.â
allison.
Sheâd forgotten her phone behind the counter at work. That was the only reason she was out this late, her wool coat wrapped tightly around her body. Although spring was approaching, without the sun the air was still freezing and she was completely over it. Her hair was twisted back in a loose braid and, while it kept it out of her face, it meant that the tips of her ears were quickly turning red. All complaints of the cold however, fled her mind as she turned the corner and saw the broken door handle on her shop.
Approaching softly, Allison carefully pushed the door open and slipped into the dark shop. Her face twisted with annoyance - seriously, who broke into a tea shop? Itâs not like she kept piles of money just laying around. A rustling noise caught her attention and she headed towards the backroom, a quick glance at the register confirming that none of the money had been taken. Flicking up a switch as she passed by, the backroom flooded with light.Â
âWhat do you think youâre doing back here?â she asked, her voice unusually icy. Allison couldnât say she was exactly pleased to see Henryk snooping around her personal wares. She wondered if this meant the tea hadnât helped.Â
He was frantic, moving about the back room, checking out glass jars and bottles and taking very little care with it all. Some slipped through his fingers and shattered into the floor, while others he tossed across the room out of frustration. There was nothing in there that could help him, just like Ariana couldnât help him, there was no helping him. He wanted to rip into something soft so bad, and he hadnât had a good night sleep in ages. Henryk felt like he was one step from a massive meltdown and accidental bloodshed and maybe heâd have to suck it up and knock himself out with some gross potion---
The vampire was so much of a mess, he didnât register it when she stepped into the shop until the lights flooded the room and she was standing by the door with an icy stare. âThis is useless!â Henryk tossed a whole crate of whatever, he didnât even care anymore. âAll of this is useless!â

juliette.
âI am, and with women as well, but thank you for noticing.â Juliette offered back, somewhere between agreement and teasing, going so far as to flip the hair from her shoulder. âI prefer a more hands on method. Tasers, bit cliche.âÂ
A smirk curled up the corners of her lips as she eyed not the crowd, but the profile of the man beside her. Strong jaw, defined features. He was conventionally beautiful, a man who was likely also quite popular with men and women alike. âAll thirsts, I would expect nothing less from a place like this.â She wondered what it was that went through a head like that one on a daily basis. What kind of man with a dry sense of humor sat at the bar and simply observed. The answer came in his next words. She had been right, he was the owner. âItâs an place, for sure.â She would have to observe further before she came to a full conclusion. âBut the pleasure is mine, Henryk.â Jules. She wondered if she should be offended by the casual nickname, but brushed it off. It wasnât the first time, wouldnât be the last. âIâve always been more of a finger by finger girl. The whole hand, effective once. Each finger is another warning. I do appreciate the permission, however. Good to know I wonât be escorted out for a few broken bones.â
She had a good sense of humor, a bit flirty too, maybe he could lure her upstairs. It was a bitch to clean up the office though. Ideally, he would take his victims to the basement back at his place, but he didnât think Malachi would appreciate the seduction game heâd have to play to get them inside the house. Ah, so tricky. He supposed he could do with the clean up job. âI can respect a woman who isnât afraid to get her hands dirty.â Violence had always been a big turn on for him, which explained his taste in lovers. Or at least one in particular.
Smiled at her when she detailed her preference for breaking fingers rather than hands. âYou like to drag it out. Nice. So, what are you here for? Anything I can do for you? I can always offer a suggestion here and there. Best girl for lap dances, the stars of the full nudity room... Whatever you want, just lay it on me.âÂ

fleur.
Fleur stared at him with her hand on his shoulder for a moment longer before she patted his cheek as if he were nothing more than a small child and allowed for it to fall away. âPoor little Henryk. Youâre so broken.â She remarked and give a flippant smile. âIf you donât know their age, you might want to try sleeping with the next vampire you intend to take a piece out of. Iâm sure your cock would prefer that to taking another hit tonight, hm?â Her favorite kind of advice to give, after all, was when it was wanted the least.
âI wonât keep you any longer. Be free, little bird.â
Henryk looked at her, almost shocked to witness such a patronizing, gentle gesture. He expected broken bones and bloody murder from her, certainly not that, or the accusation. Youâre so broken. She was right, but it still annoyed him to hear it. âIâll keep that in mind.â Be free, little bird. He would have protested against her newfound habit of calling him little something, but given her age and the fact she could hurt him again, and badly, he preferred to say a simple, âIâll see you around.â Then he fled, quick on his feet, searching for a new victim, and hopefully this one would be less of a fighter.
Sliding Scales
ashley.
Ash spoke the language of the emotionally constipated as fluently as Henryk did. It didnât bother her that he brushed it off, in fact she was grateful for it. Having affection swan dive off your tongue without your conscious consent was awkward enough without having the other person take hold and make a conversation out of it. âA for effort isnât normally your style, Henryk. Crack that whip and let her know if your shit isnât sorted neither is hers.â She rolled her eyes and let it go when he brushed off her Mal talk. Honestly she wasnât in a position to die on a hill singing the other vampireâs praises right now anyway, but she knew her friend. Of course he cared. And Malachi cared too. Theyâd sort themselves out, sloppily and probably with casualties, but they hadnât made it this far to fall apart now.
âOh shut up you idiot,â she shot back, a playful push on Henrykâs shoulder. âI donât know if itâll actually work. Itâs like whatever the fuck the tree is Iâm going to try and hijack it. Might end horrifically for all involved, but if I go what a way to go, amiright?â Brows furrowed and she gave a dramatic tut. âAlso Papa Johnâs⌠no⌠no, Sir. Dominoes delivery guys taste less like weed and pubescent hormones.â Ash didnât need to be asked twice about booze. She rose to claim the bottle from the cabinet. âShitty is good. I need a shitty and strong power combo,â she clarified as she sat back down and offered the bottle to Henryk first.
âI have cracked that whip, trust me, but Malachi is friends with her and he gets cranky when I do that. Like risking her life for me makes it ok that she messed me up.â He let out an annoyed scoff. Henryk hated it when he stepped in between him and someone else, like heâs some mad dog on a leash. Fuck the leash.
âWell, if you die, Iâm claiming all that shit youâre growing at the back of the shop. Think I donât know pot when I see it?â He shot her a grin and moved to pour her a glass, handing it to the blonde before serving himself another. âIâm sure itâs gonna go fine, but if you need anything, Iâm always willing to capture, kill and torture.â He arched a brow at her. âNot that you need any help with that.â Holding up the glass, he said, âCheers to that!â And kicked back his drink.Â
peter.
âDefinitely not the first time Iâve heard that one. Point of pride.â He offered, a chuckle of his own to match the vampires.Â
Peter wasnât exactly sure what he meant when he said it âmade a lot of senseâ, but it wasnât something to really something he felt the great need to dwell on, either. It was pretty well known that Zalman pack were⌠perhaps laid-back wasnât the right word, but definitely more accepting in general. Mostly of other wolves, of humans, but Peter felt that that could easily extend to any other species as well. âThey donât have a church, no. Iâm more of a pray in private type of person, at any rate. You donât need shitty stained glass windows to have faith.â A shrug of his shoulders, but he considered the manâs words as the subject fell on the attacks, on his own theory. It was a fair point that the vampire made, Peter would concede that. âMaybe too big for one person. Maybe an over-zealous group of hunters, but itâs only speculation at any rate. Could have been anything without a lead. Vampire, shifter, fae. Iâm weary to think it was werewolf on werewolf crime. The only pack that might attack its own kind is Ulrich, far as I know, and the brutes surely would have taken credit by now.âÂ
Henryk listened to his reasoning and nodded along. âBurning vampire churches and dead werewolves... There must be something in the water. Or everywhere.â He finished his coffee in one drink and crushed the styrofoam cup in his hand. âI hope whatever god youâre praying to delivers because this is one messed up town to live in.âÂ
He was still half convinced this was some type of hell, maybe a purgatory --- where did creatures like him go when they died? Henryk didnât remember dying though, and he remembered the other two excruciating deaths he had gone through, so that couldnât be it. âWell...â The vampire got off his seat and offered the man a smile. âIâll get out of your hair now. See you around, Peter.â Hopefully not around during the full moon though. If he had been just a little friendlier, maybe he wouldnât have to worry about that, but Ashbourne made him way too fucking cranky to play nice that often. Henryk found his way out of the cafĂŠ, ready to get on with his day.
alexander.
âWell, canât say it wasnât tempting. But then Iâd never hear the end of it, and Iâd have to watch your nose snap back into place. Then Iâll just remember you with a broken nose, and itâll ruin the entire pretty boy look youâve been sporting for so long,â Xander hummed, reaching over to actually pinch the vampireâs nose. âDo we have drugs? Babe, the entire faerielands are a drug. Where do you think the best shrooms come from?â he joked, shaking his head before he released his grip on Henryk.Â
âI know I am. Maybe Iâm overcompensating for being the same height as everyone else in the fae world,â he teased, giving the vampire another look before he shook his head. âNo, Iâm done with the exciting things happening.â An easy lie. He wanted to watch Ashbourne burn from the safety of the faerielands. Hopefully that was sooner rather than later, âYou?â
He frowned when the guy pinched his nose, but the information about the faerielands distracted him for a second. âYou must throw some wild parties then... much more fun than the Regiumâs. Might as well be a funeral.â The offense brought a smile to his lips. Fuck those guys.
âWell Iâve never been to the fae world so I wouldnât know what height that is, but Iâll guess... must be this tall to ride short.â The thought amused him, specially given how tall Xander actually was. A miniature version. âI am the exciting thing that happens.â His vanity didnât falter even in that state. âSomething weirdâs happening in town. I mean, is it just me or are things getting a little tense over here? I think itâs gonna be a bloodbath soon.â Henryk grinned again. âA regular thursday.âÂ
august.
Okay, he was officially listening. âMark that down as something we have in common,â August smirked, probably a common theme for people was an overall desire to not have fucked up shit happen to them. While the witch liked to think that trouble found him, he was at least self aware enough to know he was probably at the root of his problems. Yes, hard to believe, when it came to shit falling on his head he was his own worst enemy. Heâd already made the jump that Henryk was probably in the same boat, whether he knew it or not.
Aria had been exhausted after the blood moon, to the point where sheâd even accepted help from him. Though sheâd never told him what it was about, never before done ritual? Yeah, that was probably it then. That never before done ritual? That must have been the desiring spell that Malachi had him steal from Philippe, that request that started all this mess - for both of them - it seemed. Did Henryk know August had a hand in it? He wasnât sure, but the witch was here now.Â
The cogs officially turned, the pieces that Aria had been hoarding fell into place. Heâd have to remind her how rude it was to perform never-before-done-magic without a safety net. Henryk was obviously raw about the whole thing, Malachi had been the one to make the request, Aria had kept the whole spell a secret. Probably wasnât even his idea to begin with. âShe didnât tell me, no.â August said easily, experimental magic, she really was crossing lines. He was proud, but he wasnât going to tell Henryk that. He thought further about what Henryk said, born again popped into his mind, but the man was still obviously a vampire. âAnd youâve been having a hard time drinking blood ever since?â August asked, he shrugged, off the top of his head? âWell, I guess thereâs two scenarios - right - either the spell went right, or it didnât. So either youâre living with the consequences of magic gone good, or magic gone bad.â He sad simply, taking a drink, âwhat have you been drinking, if not blood?â
He wasnât totally shocked to hear Ariana had kept the details to herself. After all, if word got around, it wouldnât be just his head on the chopping block, but hers as well. At the moment though he wasnât all that worried about much. Starvation did things to his head. âYeah, since the ritual. I feel like my headâs about to explode.â He threw his hostage a look. âIf I could eat him, trust me, I would have bled him dry by now.â
August was right, of course, but he wasnât sure this was a deffect in the spell itself. âThe spell did what it meant to do, but... It didnât say anything about this part.â About what he would become once he was unlinked. If he wasnât a Regium anymore, then what was he? Something... ravenous, apparently. âWell, Iâve been drinking Malachiâs blood. I can only keep his blood down. Becoming my only food source hasnât done wonders for our relationship.â Henryk let out a sigh, brushing his thumb across his temple. âGuess Iâm screwed huh... You got any suggestions for me?âÂ

ashley.
âWeâll both be grateful,â Ash corrected with a fiercely raised brow. âYouâd have to drag me from bed five hours earlier to fill me in on three months of information youâd been hiding from me. Keep me in the loop and that just means when you need me Iâll be able to be there without a debrief.â She wondered if he knew that she didnât mind being dragged out of bed for him. Was she supposed to say it out loud? Did her lips have to actually form the word âfriendâ? Ash had always imagined if she said it out loud he would frown like sheâd cursed him.
Ashleyâs face sobered immediately. After all, she knew the pain of starvation, what it felt like to not be able to keep down that which you needed to keep alive. âStarvation is⌠Iâve dealt with it too,â she answered, staring down at the desk. âI never want to experience it again. Does things to you⌠erases all your strengths and makes all your weaknesses and rages run rampant. I wouldnât wish that on you ever.â Her fingers tapped against the desk, the barest sound of nails, just one time⌠the pointer, the middle, the ring, the pinky making almost a sigh. âYou still working with the witch that helped you cast the initial spell? Theyâre probably your best bet at maintenance or a solution⌠if there even is one.â That worried her, of course, the idea that she might have to watch Henryk waste away. âHe wouldnât have bitten my head off so hard if he didnât care,â she offered. From what she could tell, Malachi was very single minded when he wanted to fix something. And if his fixing had caused a whole new problem to arise she could only imagine he was snapping in half with a sense of guilt. But she was in no position to talk with Henryk about his boyfriend. That was sacred territory and it felt like he was annoyed with her presence as it was.
Her eyes glinted with a somber mixture of nerves and anticipation as Henryk queried about the pendant. Ash let her finger trace the shell of it as she contemplated how much detail she wanted to add into the answer. âWell Iâll tell you the part Iâve got figured out so far. Iâve found a witch who was properly tickled pink at the prospect of trying to deal with an original piece of spellwork, something wholly unique and hand crafted. I told him about the distant relative Iâd tracked down and the first step is to try and find her. Next full moon Iâm going to try to tap into the blood tree⌠use it to call her here. And then once Iâve got her⌠experimentation⌠a lot of it⌠and her blood, of course.â She leaned back in the chair, lazy body language opposing the magnitude of her words, the possibility of them. âIâm supposed to bring someone to sacrifice. Got any lazy employees you want me to take off your hands?â
âGot it.â There was a softness in the way she looked at him that he didnât know what to do with, so he did nothing, pretending it wasnât there, like he had so many times before when people showed him affection and he looked the other way. Convinced that it was something he wanted nothing to do with. Turned out it was useful too, from time to time. âYeah, sheâs not doing great with it, but sheâs trying.â She talked about Malachi and how much he cared and he didnât know what to make of that. âWell, heâs avoiding me so... Forgive me if I donât care.â
Once she began her tale, he wondered whether she was speaking of Ariana. Sounded so familiar. But the witch was some guy with a kink for old books. âThe Blood Tree is a summoning device now? Why didnât you tell me that sooner! There are so many delivery guys I could summon. Iâm craving some Papa Johnâs at this very moment.â It was a joke, but he ran with it. âNo, but I know all the shitty patrons in town. Iâll make you a list.â Henryk offered her a smile. âWanna grab a drink? I got some booze in that cabinet,â he said, pointing it out.
damiĂĄn.
Pitiful indeed, was that one vampire at the wolfâs eyes. DamiĂĄn sighed loudly at the otherâs words clearly trying to get on his nerves, but he was determined not to lose his temper over a drunk sucker. Not tonight, not with so many distressful information he had to process about the cursed city and whatnot. As he kept talking, however, it was Damiâs turn to raise an eyebrow, his dark eyes measuring the vampire from head to toe with the most disgusted look as the man approached. Cute face for a sucker.
This motherfucker was apparently willing to make the wolf waste his time, and as DamiĂĄn was about to cut him off and go back on his way, he literally didnât see that sucker punch coming outta nowhere; his wolf instincts werenât fast enough to dodge completely in time, causing his face to turn to one side as it was harshly hit on the other, and a bit of unbalancing made him take a step back to recover. A split second of shock ran through DamiĂĄnâs face while realizing what had just happened, his gaze immediately getting full of a growing rage as it slowly turned back to the vampire.
By the next second, his hand was tightly closed around the vampireâs neck and, quickly throwing his body weight towards him, Dami violently crushed the guy against the nearest wall. âARE YOU FUCKING MAD?!â He growled loudly, inches from his face, his hand firmly squeezing the vampireâs throat in place as the free one went for a punch on his jaw.
Henryk barely saw it coming when a strong hand grabbed him by the neck. He still had a satisfied smile on his face when the guy threw him into the wall with so much strength, it cracked. If his head was spinning before, now it had done a whole turn around itself. It took him a few seconds to find his footing. âGod!â He grimaced. âI wish I had a mint to offer you.â
His amusement was short lived as the hand around his throat squeezed and another collided with his jaw. He was so fucking strong, Henryk could taste the blood in his mind. Something was broken too, he could tell from the burn of reconstruction. Hopefully the alcohol didnât slow that down too much.Â
He spat out his blood and offered him a red smile. âThat was great, baby, one more time?â Before the guy could hit him again though, he used his hands to try and twist his arm into letting go of him. Maybe he shouldâve thought it through before pissing off a werewolf.
