The Silent Hero

The Hero sheathed his sword and put a hand on his hips. He stared at the girl, and in return, a flying blue ball of light peeked from the male’s forest-green cap.

The blonde tilted his head a little.

"Timcanpy... That's quite the foreign name..." she mumbled, flying up to attempt petting the golden ball.

The Hero's eyes widened a little as his fairy touched the golem. The only golems he'd ever known were created out of stone... and they attacked. He made a barely audible sound and the fairy flew back to him.

"Don't worry Link. I think this one is okay."

He still eyed the golem with caution though and made a quiet grunt.

The little blue fairy tilted her head and circled the golden object. "Link!" she cried, "I don't think this one's a fairy!"

The blonde shrugged, obviously eyeing the golden ball as well.

A little ball of blue light peeked from the Hero's cap and zoomed out, poking the stranger in the nose.

Black, Grey and White. The only colors Harris ever saw or apparently. Needed.

He sat within one of the many tall black trees, the ground below him consisted of mainly small white mushrooms which were planted near a small white pond. Laying down he began to hang upside down, watching the silent insect pass him, the fly didn’t seem to mind him much as much as it did before. The child pulled himself up and grabbed a rock—a sharpened rock to simply carve into the tree’s bark.

Then she stopped herself. “…You’ll at least come back safe, won’t you?” She asked as she watched him. Was this his way of saying he’d pay her back for all the times she had protected him from the other Kokiri Kids..?

Link nodded and tossed his old wooden shield to the ground. Navi flew down and flitted around the shield. "He says that you'll need this to protect yourself from the Octorocks!" she exclaimed as she pushed the shield over and showed her the Kokiri sword he had been borrowing until now.

Saria smiled a little. “It’s nice to see you, Navi.” She answered as her own fairy came out to greet the blue fairy in turn before resting a little upon Saria’s head. “…I know it does not need to be said, but our home as you can see is slowly dying. The others are afraid and in hiding because of it. I’m one of the few who bothers to come out at all.”

Link gave a big smile and pointed up to the tree with the twisted branch in the clearing.

"He means 'This one'? Cause he says that he can feel the malice stemming from there. The second place he can sense malice the strongest is near the Great Deku Tree." she said as Link nodded to confirm what the Fairy was saying.

Navi crossed her arms and smiled. "Link here also says that he can check it out for you and get to the bottom of this." as the blonde took an item from his pack and pointed it at the tree. It was the Hookshot.

At the sound of someone approaching, she stopped playing and looked up to see who it was, clearly surprised.

”..?” Saria definitely did not expect to see Link coming. Not at this time. And definitely not as pale as he seemed. “…Link, you look sick..!” She pointed out as she hopped off the tree stump she had seated herself upon to help her friend. …Oops. And he was definitely taller. There were times that she had forgotten that he isn’t one of them either, but it never stopped her from befriending the boy. It wasn’t about to change her thoughts about him either.

Link gave her a smile and sat down on the tree stump to hug his dear friend. A familiar blue fairy peeked from under the blonde's hat and few around the Sage as the blond continued to hold Saria close.

Navi then perched on Saria's shoulder. "He was worried the most about you." she said, "He's happy to see nothing bad happened to you while he was gone..."

Link let go of Saria and nodded. Since he physically couldn't speak, he'd gotten used to yes and no as he default answers.

Seven years. Seven years since the whole fiasco had happened and a Hero from Kokiri Forest had emerged and saved the Hyrule Kingdom. But at the same time, the same hero had left behind a dear friend after rescuing the said friend, allowing her to awaken as the Forest Sage.

Much time had passed since then, but Saria still loves to venture to the Lost Woods to play on her ocarina.

Link stopped as he approached his home. He wondered if anything had changed... But he knew that the Kokiri wouldn't have changed at all... The forest might, but the people were eternally children...

The blond gripped the blue ocarina in his palm and bit his lip. He had to return home... He needed to see if Ganon's curse had spread to his home...

As he made his way through the winding forest, Link could feel the malice in the air... The trees were dying and most were close to death; barely clinging to life. The once vibrant energy his home had was gone... The leaves were no longer the green of his tunic, nor was the ground... The ground was dark and some places even blackened. Plants were dead and it made the blond sick.

The Hero took a moment to sit the end of the rickety bridge and took this time to throw up. The once proud home of the Kokiri was close to death...

He stood and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. Link needed to know if the Kokiri were alright.

To be honest, Link didnt expect to be so tall compared to the Kokiri when he had arrived... But he knew where Saria was... She was always at her secret spot in the Lost Woods.
