Kukui doesn’t really have a big extending family of blood relatives, it’s really just his parents and of course Burnet who are his immediate family that live on the islands. He knows everyone though, and considers the whole Alolan populous as sort of a big extended family to a degree, he’s just like that~ But events or holidays that are meant for smaller intimate family gatherings are usually spent specifically with his wife and parents. He does loves big social events that everyone can get involved in but the smaller ones do have a special place in his heart.

Kukui would ABSOLUTELY take them in without question. I mean look at how he and Burnet took Lillie in~ Their first priority is to provide a place for them to be safe then deal with whatever follows later. Given that they don’t have children of their own at the moment, their home is always open to those who may need somewhere to stay.

Family Headcanons

Just about the same way he handles just about everything. He’s all about positive reinforcement and gentle redirecting. As someone who regularly deals with dangerous Pokemon he’s very adept at dealing with difficult and dangerous behaviors, as well as young and headstrong Pokemon trainers. As the region professor all the young trainers in Alola somewhat fall under his responsibility, with the help of the island Kahuna’s of course. So should any of the trainers really fall out of line or try to push their bounties farther than what is safe for them he’ll definitely step in.

[ Wow it’s been a long time I’ve been so busy lmaoo but jeez hey guys I have missed y’all a lot! A small update of sorts as I’m looking to get back into RPing slowly but I wanted to just let you know what I’ve been up to and that I’m still alive! ]

     “Aw, kiddo that really.. means a lot yeah!” He couldn’t help but choke just a bit. He often was asked why he and Burnet didn’t have children. Was it work? Maybe they weren’t ready, they were a young couple yet it was hard to picture them not having children~ Kukui always smiled, politely receiving the questions but dodging them if he could. It had always been a tender subject though he never showed it. 

     It was a strange feeling to know there were others that looked to him in that way, like a father. A strange and beautiful feeling. Sometimes when he really gave it thought he wasn’t sure his heart could take it. Did they know how much it meant to him? Did they have any idea? To have an effect on someone’s life like that... it meant the world to him.

“Heh, now that feels like a while ago, yeah~” They’d only been married a few years when they met Lillie. Most considered them to still be in their honeymoon phase, and maybe they were, but to Kukui it had felt like they’d been married their whole lives buy the time they’d settled down yet he could still remember the first day they met.

“I wasn’t even a ‘professor’ back then if you can believe it~ She’d just arrived to the islands and I was helpin’ her move all her stuff in- well movin’ stuff wasn’t my job or anything I had just offered.” it was a bit of a long story the more he thought about it. Boring, sappy details that he reflected on very fondly but others would probably find them boring. He laughed to himself.
