Augmented collaboration

Photo documentation of the user testing session of the “nodders” prototypes. In this session we had Eva and Ulla situated in separate locations and in an audio conference meeting, discussing over a shared document while viewing each other’s agreement/disagreement captured by the nodders. The visualisation of the agreement was an animated emoticon, who was nodding whenever one of the participants was nodding her head or shaking the head in the form of disagreement, when they disagreed.

Part of the development of the design concept for a messenger tool that is used in a professional context between a service provider and customer. To enhance the sense of human presence in remote communication, we create a user experience design proposal for an output for the heartbeat of the employee from the service provider (captured with a wearable device equipped with sensors) to the customer’s chat window. 

Testing out the visualisation for the nodding prototype with YES, NO and NEUTRAL represented through emoticons. In the current image there are 4 participants in a group video call (appear.in) and we are all using our mobile phones to simultaneously express our agreeability to the topic. The mobile phone is a substitute for the upcoming hardware that will be a wearable mounted on the head

Presentation of Humex design process at Aalto Demoday. Scenarios and inspiration cards were created in order to support feedback-gathering  from attendants to the event.

Aalto University’s part is about understanding how people feel about personal data tracking for enhancing the quality of digital interactions. To this aims we are exploring different scenarios where people communicate through instant messaging and video communications tools.

Second version of the prototype on visualizing agreement in computer mediated communication

Journey map about the use of IM in work collaboration. Was helpful to realize we need to know more about the tasks, tools and work flow. Lessons learned: finding a good scenario is key when creating a journey map.

It provides analytics on mood and speech. For instance, it tracks how much people were talking, speed of the speech, smiles...; it also tracks if the use switch tabs in the browser; only the facilitator gets the real-time and after-conversation analytics (hierarchy); if the video is disabled there is no real-time analytics on mood; usability: some commands are not that intuitive (chat button…)
