Is the M.E. talking to Knuckles? Is the M.E. it's own person?

Does it give orders to Knuckles?

Left: in Donkey Kong Country 2, the entire main mechanic of the Screech's Sprint level (the race against the evil parrot Screech) can be bypassed simply by hurting Squawks and passing over Screech instead of under him at the starting line. This causes the race to not start since the game expects Squawks to pass below Screech.

Right: if this is done, there is also a visual glitch at the end of the level whereupon the playable Kong's palette will be corrupted (note Dixie's color scheme). The level can still be finished as usual.
