In Donkey Kong 64, collecting all 20 Banana Fairies on a save file unlocks the ability to set items to infinite in the Mystery submenu of the main menu. This actually affects all save files, including ones where the fairies were not obtained, so it is possible to start a new game with infinite items.

As the beginning of the game was not designed with infinite oranges in mind, setting oranges to infinite interacts in an unexpected way with two of Cranky Kong's training barrels in the intro segment.

Left: the "throwing oranges" barrel no longer requires Donkey Kong to actually collect the oranges; he can simply throw five of the ones he already has. This is unintended but logical.

Right: however, what is much less expected is that the "throwing barrels" barrel also is marked as cleared when Donkey Kong throws five oranges. It turns out the game merely counts the "breaking" animation of the barrels, which shares properties with the orange explosions so that those are counted instead.
