Oswald looked at the girl for a moment, stepped off stage with a mic and handed it to her. Smiling a bit, he mouthed the words “Don’t worry.” to her. Looking back at the audience, he gave them a look, secretly motioning to the guy at the soundboard to turn on the trick microphone. It’d make her sound amazing, even if she didn’t do very well. The kid needed some confidence, it seemed.
“Alright,” he said with a sigh, “Let’s do this.”
As the music started playing, Oswald sang a bit of ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie, hoping the kid knew the words.
Though she spent most of her time studying, Dot did indulge in the occasional movie binge, and she happened to love musicals. So, when the music started playing a familiar tune, she let out the breath she’d been holding. She had this. “The sun will come out...tomorrow...bet your bottom dollar that...tomorrow, there’ll be sun! Just thinkin’ about...tomorrow...clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow...til there’s none!”
