tl;dr:
Considering I find this very important: My version of Peter Pan is NOT human and absolutely not a child. He's not a young boy (Physically, he's 23; mentally, he matches that of a typical human adult or beyond), and he has never been a child!
I put a lot of myself and who I am in Peter, and him being a child makes me feel weird in many ways, and it's my story and au and retelling so i can do whatever i want. Fae changeling etc etc Peter Pan win.
