“Yeah, and all the other rogues with me. And spies. Same thing, really, at their core,” Miston said with a big grin, folding his arms over his chest.

“A sword has it’s value as well though. And you know I’ll always envy archers. The art with bow and arrow is just so graceful, and you especially make it look so damn easy when it’s really not.”

“Are you saying you think I’m graceful?” The woodland prince smirked at his friend, though his ears dusted with pink at the compliment.

“I’m alright with a sword but you know as well as anyone that my heart is in archery. Knives over swords any day, clunky things. I could teach you a few things, on the bow I mean.”

“I’m saying archers are graceful, make of that what you will,” Miston said, his grin a little less intense but still very clearly there.

“Oh, don’t waste your breath. Plenty have tried, and bows simply do not like me. But, yes, you don’t have to tell me that your heart is in archery. That’s as clear as day.”

“I’m confident that you can do it, its all in the form,” He smiled, knowing Miston preferred his knives and was highly skilled with them.

“I started at it so young, once I got Adar right through the shoulder- He swore it was just a graze. I do love archery, I only wish that I needn’t always use it for combat. Gone are the days of targets and competition and hunts. Its become more survival than passion.”

"It will be your passion again, someday. I promise. This darkness too will pass."

“Someday,” Legolas agreed, still ever the optimist despite his grumblings. “Hopefully sooner rather than later. I long to hear the trees sing of something other than sorrow. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see this forest in its full glory, mellon-nin?”

Legolas’ smile soon returned, thinking back on the incident. “At least my aim has significantly improved since then.”

Hanukkah “Sketch” Night Eight: Legolas. I’ve drawn him a couple of times before, so I wanted to do a bit of a different take on him, lean into the woodland prince idea. This one’s for a friend.

Thanks for sticking with me! This’ll end out my art for this year, but I have a lot of ideas I want to play with, so I’ll be putting out plenty more next year. Hanukkah sameach!
