MILITARY EDUCATION OF HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCESS OF ASTURIAS
Casa Real and the Government have announced today, March 14th, 2023, that the Council of Ministers has approved Princess Leonor's military training programme.
Starting this August the Princess will begin a three year military programme, spending time in the academies of all branches of the Army and the Navy.
During the first year of military training HRH will complete the first school year at Zaragoza's General Academy of the Army and begin the second school year.
Her second year will be focused on the Navy, taking part in the third school year at Marín's Naval Academy and onboard the Juan Sebastián Elcano training ship.
Her third and final year will see Princess Leonor at the fourth school year at the General Academy of Air and Space of San Javier.
When her graduating class finishes their Academy studies a year later, the Princess of Asturias will hold the rank of Liutenant in the Army and the Airforce and an Ensign in the Navy.
Officials who graduate from a Military Academy do so with an Engineering Degree. It is not yet known if the Princess will do so and it seems unlikely considering she will be cramming four school years in three years and will study in three different academies with different degrees. In my opinion she will likely obtain university credits and finish her degree after her military training.
In Casa Real press release the King and Queen celebrate Princess Leonor's will, interest and eagerness in her military training, remarking her awarness of the sacrifes and demands of military life, as well as the honor of serving with the men and women of the Spanish Armed Forces.
