Uncle Dennis Kaaihue lives on kuleana land(Kuleana lands are those parcels granted to native Hawaiian tenant farmers between 1850 and 1855) Designed to keep Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands so that we can prosper. Unfortunately, many of these lands are being abandoned or taken due to rising property taxes, our children leaving to persue other interests,water being illegally diverted, etc.. Like so many, uncle is trying to hold on in hopes that the next generation will step up and help out so that our future generations will have a place they can thrive and call home. (at Maui)

Experimenting with digital. First pass at digital painting of Kanaloa by 808 founder Prime. Based on the many versions of Kanaloa throughout the pacific. The shape shifter had many forms. Octopus, stingray, dolphin, fish, shark..all these forms are incorporated into this piece. The hair was done in "Ehu" from Prime's personal experience on the ocean. "The hair changes color naturally when you are out in the ocean for long periods of time."-prime. The ray on his chest to the kelp from his seaweed beard..everything connects to how we see the ocean today. #808urban #livinglegacyseries #hawaiianart #hawaiianarttherapy #artkiiology
