The MNP report, the wildfire failures it couldn't hide, and what Saskatchewan owes the people of Denare Beach.
Did you work during any of the Covid lockdowns?
yes outside the home
yes but from home
yes to both of the above
no but I wasn't/couldn't/didn't work anyway
no Covid stopped my job at some point

I realize this is a cast iron gate but I’m choosing to believe it’s a magic protection ritual
It IS a magic protection ritual, and it summons an iron gate to protect you from intruders.
“I cast Iron Gate!”
As a blacksmith I have been called a wizard by several small kids
why you should care about theresa even if you ship hansry: a fever-rant
I've been writing Hansry since April 2018. But my first KCD fic ever was about Theresa.
You know what drives me nuts about this girl?
It's because even though she loves him, cares for him, worries about him, and arguably even (emotionally) needs him alive: Henry isn't what she wants.
The Theresa we come to know in KCD, the one who exists in the aftermath of disaster, cares SO much for this lad. She shows it in her actions more than her words, which can be restrained and remote, emotionally unavailable. But that is a recent development.
Frankly: She lived her entire life in Skalitz with him as an afterthought.
To Tess, he wasn't a main character in anyone's story. He wasn't the object of her unflinching desire or her obsession. He was always just stupid old Hal under the castle hill. Martin & Jane's son from up at the smithy. Some passable, foolish, cute-enough dude who was fooling around with her bestie (blech!). As for many young adult women, it was not any boy or crush or marriage prospect, but her friends, especially BIANCA, who were the huge social presence in her life. Not Henry, and probably never Henry... except for what happened.
What drives me so nuts about this is that though Tess and Henry seem confused about their romantic connection, they have one clarity: each anchors the other in the past. But they do so from completely different angles, and to completely different ends.

I've never seen anyone mention this, so I will: Kingdom Come is balls-to-the-wall obsessed with symbolism. This is fitting for a medieval game (the medieval world was obsessed with symbolism), and it's loaded with symbols in both its art and storytelling elements. What I find worth remarking on is that KCD takes a far more subtle, literary, and artful approach to its symbolism than most games within its genre; its symbolism thrives in the margins, as with literature. It doesn't flounce in the spotlight with a megaphone as with most games.
[Cut for rambly analysis.]
I resurrected this just to point out a couple of quick things about symbolism via outfitting between games:
In KCD1, Henry and Hans wear the same red neck scarf.
In KCD2, Hans's intro hood is embroidered with songbirds and roosters. Hans's two names: for Jan Ptáček, "little bird," and Capon, a castrated rooster.
In KCD1 & 2, Hans's horse wears a caparison featuring a red stag. In KCD1, his bedroom depicts a lone stag being chased down by hounds -- an inversion of roles, hunter becoming hunted, an exchange we see echoed in "The Prey" quest. In KCD2, it should not come as a surprise that Hans's hunting/poaching also transforms him into literal and symbolic prey; here, too, he is nearly torn asunder by the feudal law and order that hounds him.
In KCD1, Theresa is given a bright blue dress to symbolize her sacrifice of her body/future to the men in charge of her life; she is given this gift on the eve of Skalitz's destruction and the obliteration of the expectations placed upon her.
In KCD2, Katherine -- a woman whose life has been obliterated by warfare, who has transformed her body and soul into a weapon of war to be utilized by her war captain -- is strongly associated with blue (specifically, via her signature blue dress).
In KCD1, Hans gives Henry a bow if he is victorious in an impromptu test of skill that foreshadows their rivalry sprouting into friendship.
In KCD2, Hans gives Henry a bow purely as a gift of friendship after stealing it himself (a test of his own skill for care of Henry, foreshadowing their friendship blooming into romantic love).
In KCD1, Henry's mother dresses him in green.
In KCD2, Sam's mother dresses him in green.
I love these silly little games very, very much.
creator of the Familiar Henry mod Soriyumi and KCD1 Henry Head Edits creator rainyknights, wherever you are i hope you know you have regrown my missing limbs, healed my battle scars, and restored my will to fight
Happy 10th birthday to the best tweet of all time.
After seeing a lot of other people play KCD2, I cannot for the life of me figure out why no one seems to understand that when Henry is talking to Ignatius the sheep, he is the one doing the "baa" responses. He's doing both sides of the conversation because he's a dork. Every streamer I've seen has said something like "why didn't they get a sound clip of a real sheep?" Or "it's so obvious that sheep sound is just some guy, not even trying." They're not trying to trick you! It's Henry doing it, in-universe! It's on purpose! He's being silly! It's small and dumb but it drives me crazy.

I love this DLC. I definitely need more Martin flashbacks.
(I also could use more Henry's mom too but that's a whole other discussion.)

in the game, mutt and pebbles are always nearby when henry wakes up after sleepwalking. therefore, this is the sight he sees when he wakes up in some random shrub.
i love to imagine them following him loyally during the night as he stumbles along mindlessly, like okay time for one of dad’s nighttime strolls again i guess

Shane & his parents // Ilya & his parents Heated Rivalry, S01E01
Can we talk about how both David and Grigori are on the right side of the frame, Yuna is to the left of Shane- but to the left of Ilya is just a sharp drop.
