His thoughts were occupied with her face daily. Heâd been in a semi-important meeting with the other demons, coming together on what to do about the hunters that constantly sought them out. Without Fuuka, therew was no way to keep them all hidden and protected, as she was the bridge between the two. Her ability was top notch, able to detect more than just the demons she surrounded herself with. She had a bright personality, and even the toughest of the demons in their group greeted her with a smile that no one had seen from him before.
God, did he miss her terribly.
His life had gone pretty sour after he was forced to wipe himself from her memories. She had come back into his life, but she remembered nothing. Not of the day they first met in that alleyway, not of the days they spent at the top of that hill, staring at the stars. Not of the day she tearfully begged him not to do it, not to wipe her memory of him, the day she said she would rather die than forget him. He couldnât do it. He couldnât listen to her. He loved her more than he loved himself, and he didnât want to see her die.
He snapped awake from deep in thought by the interruption of someone snapping their fingers in his face. He had drifted off, lost in thought of Fuuka, and everyone at that meeting knew. They looked at him with pity, feeling sorry for him, as well as feeling sad within themselves. Everyone loved her; it was just as hard for them to forget her.Â
Just as Yuuto was about to continue the meeting, Deneb walked in, carrying his purposely forgotten lunch. He knew the uncle figure snuck in some shiitake; as if he was going to eat that garbage! Rather than leaving, Deneb kneeled next to him, mentioning that there was someone to see him. Confused, he could only ask who. Perhaps it was one of the other demons, accepting his proposal to join them, but the name that quietly left the bird uncleâs lips was one he didnât expect.
His eyes went wide, and almost immediately, struggling to leave his chair, he fell out, catching himself with his hands and sprinted to the outside door, knocking into many things along the way. There was no way she could be here! It was impossible; she was dead! He watched her die!
However, his thoughts contradicted his vision, as she was right there in front of him, reflecting his surprised expression. Not too son after she had laid her eyes on him, tears started to fall.
âWait, wait, why are you crying?â he asked, desperate.
She covered her mouth with her hands, and responded, âI just.... I didnât imagine you to be so.... So beautiful....â
He was speechless. He remembered that all she had to go by before her death was his voice, and a vague feeling of his facial features. He remembered the moment she saw his demon form for the first time, all that time before, calling him beautiful then as well. With the same confused and desperate expression he presented on his face, he mimicked her action and began to cry.
She couldnât be the real thing, could she?
