But yes, they lacked a great deal in commonâŚShe wasnât quite sure how people came to the conclusion that she was her reincarnationâŚOther than the fact that the shikon no tama had been born with herâbut there was an explanation for that too that didnât mean she was her reincarnationâŚ
          Though she wasnât going to get into that right off the bat with the scarlet miko in front of her. The green miko canted her her head as the other shamaness gave She wasnât exactly surprised when she said she didnât understand her motivesâŚKikyou-wasnât exactly human any more after allâŚBut she was still gratified that she was willing to listen and entertain the conversation.Â
         However, what she said caused the green mikoâs brows to arch slightly. She crossed her arms over her chest and drew in a slow breath as she processed what the scarlet miko told her.::
                       âA missionâŚIs the Shikon no Tama really what drives you? Technically speaking-you are free of its bonds. You did your partâŚAnd were forced into a doll of clay, soil and bone for your troubleâŚâ
        ::The younger miko rather thought destroying Naraku for manipulating her and the hanyou would be her driving forceâŚbut she continued-stepping carefully-along this vein.::
                      âI would thinkâthat since its kind of my fault that the Tama was brought backâthat it would be on my head to take care of itâŚIâm not you, and I never have been-but when you passed all those years ago with the tama in your graspâthat pink bauble had other plans for youâŚIt dragged your soul along with itâforced you to piggyback in it and into me, somehow knowing that youâd be yanked from me and into the frame youâre in nowâŚSo the tama isâon meâŚâ
       ::She left out the fact that it was probably her wish to be with Inuyasha again that made that all come to passâŚThat was on a need to know basis.::
Kikyo listened to the other priestess with intent, as she pondered her words. This was probably the most they had ever spoken to each other, and it was certainly taking an interesting turn.
The woman had stiffened as Kagome mentioned her theory about the relationship (or more so, the lack of) between their souls. No one had ever suggested such a thing. The Jewel had been behind so many events, it wouldnât be entirely implausible to believe that it had played a more direct role in her resurrection.
âYes, I suppose that I am released from the Jewel⌠as well as free from my previous life.â She smiled a cruel smile as she mused. âYet, am I truly free? I cannot allow Naraku to use a complete Sacred Jewel for his evil wish.â She planned to purify the villain along with Jewel once all the shards had been reunited. Whoever collected the shards did not matter to her, as long as it was made whole again eventually.
âNaraku- no, Onigumo had been the one to arrange this all... as you know all too well. He caused all this suffering, as well as my own demise. He deserves to perish as I have before.â She stopped for a moment, as she sorted through her thoughts. âPerhaps, my hatred is what truly drives me now.â She said this simply, as if a plan for revenge wasÂ
âPriestess⌠tell me, what drives you?â she asked suddenly, following the pause after her monologue. She had decided to turn the tables on the girl, so to speak. âAre you too tied to the jewel?â Kikyo knew that the Jewel had found its way into the world once again through Kagome, but she did not understand why Kagome continued to pursue it. Perhaps she had the same notions of protecting the Jewel that she herself had once had.
