Everyone has interpretations and some of those people will have in common in majority. More I think a better way to word this is a lot of people tend to ship the characters a certain way majority wise by seeing the “good” character as more “submissive”. Which doesn’t even have to be in a sexual context but of course as I mentioned above sub and bottom seem to be tossed around interchangeably when people sometimes have a tendency to box characters based on who they think is what I’m bed. Which sucks.

With this point I do agree with you.

I don't like then people see ships in dom/sub dynamic only. It's making characters too flat, ignoring their other traits what makes them unique.

I don't like see Ventus as "submissive soft boy" because he isn't. Yes, he is kind and gently, but he doesn't fit in submissive role same as he doesn't fit in dominant role. And it's make me sad then people put Ven in dom position making him manipulate, controling and etc etc. It's not Ven anymore. He can guide in relationship, being enough initiative, and at the same time he can give enough space and let partner have initiative too.

Vanitas is kinda same, i think. I do see what he need had a control of some situation, but not in way what usually dominant do in famdoms fanwork. But seeing his portrait as submissive give me enough discomfort. Usually its ended as wimsy Vani who act like those maximal stereotyped omegas from super old omegaverse fics. And it's strange to see something like what then content aren't even tagged as omegaverse fic. Sometimes I'm not sure is it real or it was bad dream under high temperature.
