We (as in me and you mostly, and anyone else who feels the same, which isn't a lot of people from what I'm seeing) got into kpop bc it offered something fresh and different from western music. it had elements such as concepts we had to analyze and decode, complex and exciting choreographies and stage stuff we hadn't seen before, and most importantly fresh music. sounds and arrangements we weren't used to hearing. lyrics that weren't about love and break-up all the time. we fell in love with kpop bc they weren't reusing the same formulas and sounds to make generic music that wouldn't last more than a couple of months!

what about now? I'm gonna use EXO as an example bc its the only group i've experienced multiple CBs with before all of this madness. If I remember correctly, they would release one (maybe 2?) album a year and maybe a repackaged a few months later. they would post these cryptic pics that were like clues about the concept of the album which would take weeks, sometimes months to unfold! we would go months not hearing anything from the members and then they'd start to appear with beanies and new hair colors peaking and we'd get so excited because we had been LITERALLY starved for months! and we'd maybe a get one variety a year. MAYBE.

Since 2020, monsta x has released EIGHT (8) ALBUM. 9 if you count Shape of Love. they have released god knows how many varieties in the Universe app. I can count like... 6-7 off the top of my head and I didn't even watch all of them. I couldn't possibly keep up. they have had comebacks back to back with no break in between whatsoever while also doing solo work (like radio shows, brand endorsements, magazine shoots, etc) AND filming 934850 variety shows that are basically just them doing random tasks and playing dumb games. I don't even remember when was the last time they had a "concept" concept. follow find you? I don't know. It blows my f**king mind how stans react to concept pics these days and they're the most boring basic things... the number of tweets I saw with Voyager and no limit concept pics saying "Look!!! this is how it's done!!! Kpop King!!!11!!!11!1!" like... no it's not. and yeah no they don't give a fuck about these idols because they don't see them as humans. the members have very explicitly expressed concern about Kihyun's health with these CBs being back to back and people in the qts are legitimately like "Omggg Kihyun is so strong and hardworking!!!! I'm so proud!!11!!!1" No he's not. he's not strong. he's a human being who is physically and mentally suffering.
