You can like a morally bad character. You don’t have to make excuses for them to sound morally gray/good. Evil characters are fun sometimes you just have to have a good ol’ murderer and enjoy their character for no reason.

I lied. We’re going to talk about how the basis for most (not all) people shipping Montparnasse and Jean Prouvaire is that both characters are described as effeminate. We’re going to talk about how a lot of the fandom has tragically reduced Prouvaire’s character into a flowery twink and Montparnasse’s character to a charming bad boy twink. We’re going to talk about how Prouvaire is described in the book as one of the most valiant members of the ABC and who in fact died alone, and how Montparnasse is selfish and ruthless and has killed several people. just saw the US tour of Les Mis in Boston, and holy wow. Something really neat I noticed was, unlike in the movie, after Fantine scratches Bamatabois (in this production she bit him???), the other prostitutes pull her away from fighting him more. & later when Javert comes in and Fantine is on the ground, one of the lovely ladies runs to try to help her up, but Javert pushes her away. Yay women supporting women. Especially since in this production, Bamatabois fully just beat up Fantine with his cane
