I have been watching Charmed since I was a young child, Julian was one of the faces that formed my childhood, my teenage years and my adult life - even as recently as these last few weeks when I decided to rewatch all of Charmed, once yet again.

My partner has never seen the show and we thought why not. We have just started season 6 so we have recently just concluded Cole's arc in the show. It feels almost symbolic.

In a weird echo of finding out about Shannen's passing my partner, once again, told me early morning that Julian had passed away. It really shook me, it felt unreal. I didn't know how to take it, all I could do was cry.

I think there can be shame around crying over or mourning someone you've never known or met but I was impacted by him in a different way to those who did know him personally. I don't think that means I shouldn't react or feel the things I am. It does feel like losing someone important.

To me he was Cole Turner and Doctor Doom. I would always get giddy when I saw him appear in other projects I watched like Runaways or Dirk Gently. I recently watched him in The Residence where he played the Prime Minister of Australia, almost like a tribute to his father who was in fact the Prime Minister of Australia. And I was excited to watch him in The Surfer.

I felt another connection to him being Australian. I know that doesn't mean anything really but it sort of felt comforting having another Aussie on my screens so consistently. That being said he never really seemed to stray from his down to earth Australian attitude. He never appeared to crave fame or glory, he simply was just good and what he did and found success in it.

Julian brought so much life and depth to his characters, the way many others cannot. He was particularly good at the bad guys and it was always captivating watching his performances.

Julian McMahon has left such a positive impact on my life. Thankfully I will be able to relive the inspiration and impact he had on me through his work. I'm sure he has impacted many other people the same way he did me.

I know his family and friends will never be the same without him but I hope they take solace knowing he is no longer suffering and that they can look back on the joyful moments they had with him to remember him by.

I am back again to turn to my Charmed fandom as we have unfortunately lost another beloved cast member too soon. This is just a quick note that although life takes over and hobbies fall to the wayside, like this blog has for me, that Charmed will always be part of my life and its cast is forever important to me. Heck I'm in the middle of a Charmed rewatch currently - my partner's first watch, will definitely have to post about his opinions some time.

I had every intention of keeping up with this blog a year ago, after posting about Shannen's death. I have a bunch of posts saved in my drafts that got forgotten about because I got caught up with work and personal things. I'm in two minds about posting them because there are quite a few about the loss of Shannen but also some fandom related things. Maybe I'll post them to remember her by on the anniversary of her passing and post the fandom ones if I feel like I can continue this blog reasonably regularly.
