The problem of the irrationality of gender ideology is dealt with by drowning every logical objection that is raised to it within a flood of moral outrage. No rational argument against its major claims is allowed a fair hearing (only discussion of trivial details) because only hateful individuals would have a reason to question those central claims in the first place. "You are not asking this question in good faith" its advocates exclaim. In other words, the answer to every objection raised to it is the Ad Hominem argument fallacy. But this is in reality the only way to defend an ideology that is so fraught with inconsistencies that it cannot even be clearly formulated.
Over time the claims made by its advocates have become ever more extreme, but again, they may not be logically challenged. Some doctors are now declaring that a child can know their gender identity before 2 years of age. But this is illogical on its face. According to classical research, babies don't even develop basic self consciousness and awareness (the ability to recognize themselves in mirrors) until about age two; yet they understand the idea of gender identity? The claim would not be as ridiculous if their position was that gender identity was biological, but we are told that it is cultural. In other words, the baby must intellectually apprehend the various elements of a set of distinct cultural identities, and then determine where he fits into them; all before he even possesses a separate notion of self.
