This is the NexTool Knight K40 — a folding knife with an integrated bit driver built into the handle.

In the video, I take a closer look at the knife, go through the main specifications and show how the blade-and-driver combination works.

It’s certainly an interesting idea, but is it genuinely useful or just a bit of a gimmick?

Would you carry it into the woods?

What knives do the winners actually carry?

Most people expect huge survival knives, axes, and machetes. But after looking at every winner from Seasons 1–12, the results were surprisingly different.

Some winners used large fixed blades.

Some relied on traditional bushcraft knives.

Several won using multitools.

One even trusted a simple Mora.

The biggest lesson?

Skill matters more than gear.

I’ve put together a full breakdown of every winning knife and cutting tool used by Alone champions from Seasons 1–12, along with some interesting patterns I noticed along the way.

A quick fire-up with my Forest Fundamentals stove this week.
