Words to God

thank you Lord for poetry

in so many words

you have given me to think

of your eternal presence.

.

into me my God once more

beyond this body

destined for a lonely grave

for my soul belongs with you.

.

accompanying prayers

wilt, die needlessly,

all such spurious words do,

forgive my sins is enough.

.

important in many ways,

entryway to sleep

our last words to God, comfort

of an unequal bedding.

.

the laziness of our flesh,

its poor ambitions,

the misdirection it brings

in opposition to God.

.

in a place found with prayers,

groundwork of belief

labors of love often hard

under the weight of our cross.

.

introduce me to my day

with newness of hope

and a desire to obey

the direction you offer.

.

companions bringing answers

to prayer requests

God loves to provide for us

but we must maintain our trust.

.

Jesus evermore

cause of salvation bless us

in line with your word

let unfailing perfection

forever be in our hearts.

Lord remember folks I've failed

when my feet stumbled

when my compassion was thin

and I was enjoying sin.

endue my soul with your joy

when clouds will not part

be my eternal sunshine

for I am forever yours.

.

When I fee alone

bless the solitary way

with music and joy

cause sorrow to flee away

reveal to me your glory.

.

brought forth by loving kindness

through thy compassion

for my soul has grown weary

in the shadows of this time.
