Half way home, nowhere

near enough to reach His arms

you halt your journey

a nice place to turn around

and be a pillar of salt.

talking to some computer

worshiping knowledge,

fruit of electronic trees,

ignoring wisdom from God.

Faces toward Christ

escaping the dark false glow

of bright neon light

advertising all but truth

along every plunging path.

and only a few answer

common sense falters

as foolishness reigns supreme

until mankind strays too far.

.

mankind's most serious task

needing more prayer

and mirrors to see ourselves

in the words of holy God.

and the troubles dive within

things so hard to shake

a grip that only God breaks

suddenly yield to His grace.

Remember Stephen

laying among the thrown stones

a victim of truth

spoken before evil men

and speak that boldly again.

the basis of all sin

men hopeless indeed

walking in the thick darkness

will stumble and fail to rise.

over the edge labeled sin

mars God's gift of grace

when guilty men weigh the scales

best read by the eyes of God.

the trench we've worn with our feet

walking back and forth

in the garden of the Lord

with sacks of forbidden fruit.
