Putnam Public Service District will be flushing water lines in the Teays Valley, Mount Vernon, Teays, Scott Depot, and Scary regions of its water service area during the months of April & May 2018. Flushing of water lines is performed in order to clean out distribution pipelines and remove any impurities or sediment that may be present in the pipe. Additionally, flushing gives District staff the opportunity to inspect the condition and pressure of the fire hydrants in the water distribution system. Routine annual flushing is in accordance with the West Virginia Bureau of Public Health recommendations and Putnam PSD is in full compliance with all recommendations and requirements from state and federal regulatory agencies.

During the time that the District is flushing lines, you may experience some turbidity or cloudiness in your water during and immediately after flushing takes place in your neighborhood. If your water is discolored, do not use for drinking, cooking, or laundry. If you encounter discolored water, run a faucet until it clears and, if the discoloration continues, call the District office at 304-757-6551. A precautionary 24-hour boil water advisory will be in place for water to be used for drinking or cooking while our crews are flushing in your area.

Updates on the status of the system flushing project, including but not limited to upcoming locations, problems encountered, notes on boil water advisories, photos, and videos, will be regularly posted on the District’s website & social social media accounts. The progress can be tracked by visiting flushing.putnampsd.com and bookmarking it in your favorite web browser on any computer, smartphone, or tablet. Information will also be posted on Facebook and twitter (@PutnamPSD) with supplementary information being posted to Instagram (@PutnamPSD). 2017 flushing wraps up

A combination of efficient work, upcoming major line replacements, and the copious flushing needed after the Morgans Landing breaks means that our 2017 annual system flush wraps up a bit early this year. That said, we may still do some spot flushing over the summer, especially in the North Poplar Fork and Cow Creek areas.

Today our flushing crew will be working on a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) and bleeding air from lines in the Bills Creek/WV817 area.

Flushing for 4/18/17

UPDATE: Today's flushing may be postponed due to an unexpected disruption of service in the area.

Crews will continue to flush in the Morgans Landing area along WV 817. This may include Stewart Circle, River Chase, Stewart Acres, Rolling Acres, Nautical Pointe, Hapi-Day, Riverside, Dockside Estates, Shawnee Estates, South Pines, and Cannery Lane.

Crews will be flushing in the following areas: Crooked Creek Rd, Hickory Heights, Woodscape Way, Poplar Estates, Scary Creek Rd (from Sawmill Rd to Joyce Rd), Hedrick Rd (1250 Hedrick to Joyce Rd), the general Smith Cemetery area, Wells Hollow, Vintroux Hollow, Battlefield Gardens, Sue Dr, and Jenkins Ln.

Additionally, crews might start flushing in Stonegate and on Blue Lick Rd & Harmons Branch Rd, time permitting.

Assuming everything goes as planned, crews might start flushing locations in the area outlined in white: Sunnybrook, Springdale, and surrounding developments & subdivisions.
