There is no greater lust than the desire for POWER. In the early days of man, humans and pokemon, weak in their likeness, cried out to the sky with their WISH. ‘POWER’, they all cried, ‘We want POWER’. The POWER to be strong, the POWER to do things we are not capable of on our own’. So loud did they cry, and lo, the sky did hear them. From their WISHES, a single bright STAR was born, and in a dark cloud it descended upon the masses to share its gift.
Breaking apart its own body, it granted its POWER to all of the masses, and strong did they become. But such an overwhelming gift is not free, and never was the price shared with the unwitting masses. How were they to know that the indulgence of POWER would soon become an addiction? They found the gift sweet on their palate, but without it, they became aware of their own fragility. The STAR’S once honeyed words were found to be dripping with toxins, and they found themselves deceived.
From the forest emerged two WARRIORS, who ventured forth with their champions to strike the STAR from the sky. Indeed, it fell, slumbering beneath the earth as its power dispersed through the land. The WARRIORS, too, did sleep and there was peace.
But the lust for POWER did not slumber as they did.
Enter Eternatus, the driving force behind Dynamaxing and the Darkest Day. They’re a massive, venomous dragon with the ability to grant power (most often manifesting as dynamaxing or gigantimaxing) to people and pokemon… though after all that’s happened, they seem far more keen to keep their gift to themself.
Eternatus doesn’t have as strong a moral code as most, favoring usefulness over sentiment. As a result, the great dragon usually tends to come across as condescending and manipulative, even if that isn’t their intention. And indeed, most of the time, they don’t mean to be. Additionally, after being force-fed bits of her old body to the point of overloading on her own power, Eternatus finds themself embittered to the human race, and while not overly hostile to most of them, she will likely come across as colder to them.
As a deity of power, and a spurned one at that, Eternatus finds themself drawn to the detested and down-trod. People and pokemon that find themselves ill-received by others, yet still fight to get stronger are practically a beacon for the dragon, and it’s quite possible they may show themself to these folk to offer her help.
Be wary, however, as Eternatus’ gifts do not come free of charge. The power they grant has a way of being very addictive, and Eternatus will do anything if it means you’ll need them…
⇁ As stated vaguely before, the energy that my Eternatus exudes and grants is highly addictive when used regularly. Without the strength and energy provided by dynamaxing, pokemon who have been overly exposed will usually end up feeling weak or insecure without it, and may go into withdrawal. Gigantimax pokemon in particular will feel a very strong urge to dynamax when within a certain radius of them.
⇁ Eternatus can also grant this same energy to humans, though it manifests differently than a typical dynamaxing. Instead of appearing to grow in size, the human affected will gain a strong surge of energy and strength, often accompanied by feeling totally healthy and almost euphoric. Naturally, this can be just as addictive to humans as it can pokemon.
⇁ Dynamaxing is NOT the only power that Eternatus can grant, though any other sort of ability given is ultimately temporary. These powers can alter the mind and body, and any sort of permanent change runs a risk of affecting one’s overall humanity. Take that as you will.
⇁ It should be noted that Eternatus has a strong and likely expected distaste for Chairman Rose, Oleana, and pretty much any other Macro Cosmos Employee. Just a thing to keep in mind!
