“It was the younger of the brothers we encountered first in those tunnels. We heard his voice before we saw his person, melted into the shadows as he was. We had heard that both brothers feasted on one’s pain — more specifically, emotional turmoil of all sorts. Therefore, we had done our best to shelter young Ana in the middle of our party where she’d be safest, as she’d just lost her brother the night prior. The tears had not left her eyes since. You can imagine our surprise, then, when the bastard first lashed out not at Ana, but at Errbor — our strongest knight. He came at him from behind, a knife to his back and lips to his neck. ‘The key to a true feast,’ he’d hummed with a too-wide grin, ‘Is not to settle for surface sorrows. The ones crusted to a sorry man’s sleeve, stale and soured. My brother settles. I do not.’ My arrow missed the brother's head by an inch, as did Ana’s ice knife. Claws dragged down Errbor’s chest in the next moment, a trail of red in their wake. ‘I know that the sweetest flesh rests deep within, hidden. I know that you must peel and dig and skin for the freshest meat. I wait, until I can smell the raw ripeness of your agony before striking. And darling... You smell divine.’”
