What is Frankie Comics?

Frankie Comics is an ongoing series of semi-autobiographical jokes and short stories about my life with my cat Frankie.

I’ve been self-publishing Frankie Comics online since 2013 at frankiecomics.com. There have been three mini-comics issues (totaling over 50 pages) printed since 2013 and the online comic has been republished on sites like The Nib, Tapastic, and GoComics. The first mini-comic collection of the series, Frankie Comic #1, was a winner of the 2013 Art Exchange program by Marc Calvary.

What’s the Kickstarter for?

I’ve wanted to create plush Frankie dolls since I 2009 when Frankie first started appearing in my journal comic Intentionally Left Blank. Now that Frankie stars in her own comic, and with the impending release of Frankie Comics #4, I’m reaching out to readers to make that a reality.

Funding from this campaign will go towards creating a run of 250 plush dolls and printing Frankie Comics #4. If there are more orders than 250 pledges for dolls, we can certainly order more. That way everyone who enjoys the comics can also have a Frankie of their very own to love! (And money saved per piece can go towards stretch goals!)

The Frankie dolls will be 6" tall and handmade. The prototype I show in the video is older but the final design will be built with the flatter face shown in the photo above.

Frankie Comics #4 will be 20 pages of brand new comics. Black and white (halftoned) interior with a black and white cover on colour stock. (The art above is not the final art for the cover.)

In addition to Frankie Comics #4 and the Frankie plush dolls, I’m offering other rewards including backer-only buttons, stickers, past issues of the comic, t-shirts, and original art.
