Only a short train ride away, Long Island City feels like another place entirely. All steel and concrete, the newly constructed waterfront leaves subtle clues to its industrial past. The giant “Pepsi Cola” sign being one, leaving behind the factory it used to announce, and now ironically standing proudly in front of luxury waterfront condos.

New Whitney
The Whitney Museum of American Art finally moved to its new home in the Meatpacking. The space is much bigger and airier than the concrete building it inhabited in the Upper East Side, the brand new multi-level courtyards and sculpture gardens perfectly complements the art it houses, as well as the High Line right next door.

I had the good fortune of meeting this inspiring lady today, when a vintage street fair in my neighbourhood popped up and completely derailed my ride. An hour later, I returned with my camera - just as this colourful lady was packing up her stall. Not only did she stop packing and chat, but gave me a purple tassel that matched my hair. The next day I added some colour to my wardrobe.
