Here’s hoping to see the writers, the artists and the game developers working on another game soon or just simply thriving in projects that they’d pursue.

The What

Storyscape is a Visual Novel app that is one of a kind. Attracting talent from the film and gaming industry, the folks at FogBank are a brilliant team of writers, game developers and artists who created stories with the following key ideals in mind:

1) Diversity - gender, race, religion, sexuality, ability. You name it, they had a healthy range of characters.

2) Authenticity - real characters, real choices, real consequences. This made the game an instant hit with the weary visual novel crowd - having your choices matter in changing the story caused a strong attachment to the app and made everyone anticipate their next stories with baited breath.

3) High Quality - artistry in the illustrations, level of animation, work done in the concept development/scripting stage; everything was considered and thought out, winning over a legion of fans (1.7 million downloads) for the quality of gameplay they would get.

As a result, the app was one of a kind. They enjoyed IP from Disney, 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, and Paramount Picture Corporation, leading to visual novels like Titanic, and X-Files.

The Why

Recently, Disney chose to close their studio, and in turn closing down an app that has come to represent many of their players. This is widely seen as a hair trigger reaction, as the app has only been released worldwide for 3 months, gaining a modest and impressive following of 1.7 million downloads.
