Major POSH Compliance Update for Employers!
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued a nationwide advisory urging States and Union Territories to strengthen implementation of the #SexualHarassment of #Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act).
Key highlights of the advisory:
Mandatory Annual POSH Audits for establishments employing 10 or more persons.
Compulsory constitution of Internal Committees (ICs) in every office, branch and unit employing 10 or more employees.
Strict adherence to legal composition of ICs, including a woman Presiding Officer, external member and at least 50% women representation.
Strengthened reporting and compliance mechanisms, including annual reporting obligations and use of the SHe-Box platform.
Regular awareness programs and specialized training for IC members.
Enhanced accountability through State-level monitoring cells, compliance dashboards and district-level oversight.
The advisory reinforces that #POSHcompliance is not merely a legal requirement but a critical step towards creating safe, inclusive and respectful workplaces for #women. Organizations should review their current #POSH framework and take proactive steps to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
