if you compulsively seek out the lowest hanging fruit of stupid people and bad politics to make fun of and prove what a good leftist you are like you’re probably. not actually that smart and figured out inside yourself that the only way to look meaningful is to distance yourself from what you know isn’t. 

personally i don’t even really buy into compilations of “world musik” anymore they just. they make it so digestible to westerners like “spend 40 minutes listening to african funk or turkish pop from the 60s then never think about it again” and i get they serve a purpose like sublime frequencies etc etc but it’s so shallow and insulting most of the time give the artists a proper re issue or give the listeners proper context instead of this mess of songs that usually have very little to do with other in terms of scene/ time period/ or any correlation like can u imagine people doing that to western music? to be like “american music of the 60s!” and put the monkees and dusty springfeild next to each other like it made sense. it has to be specific to something.
