Is there any way you see azzi winning roty over Liv as of rn? I did see someone on Twitter saying Arike put up better numbers her rookie season but Phee had a better percentage and was more efficient/ effective on the court resulting in her getting roty. I think that could apply to Liv and azzi. Liv has better numbers but azzi has better shooting splits + affects her team more on the court.

I am asking as a neutral fan because I love both.

no not right now and if olivia continues doin what she’s doin w/no injuries or extended time out, she very well could be unanimous roty. her game is translating to the pro level extremely well + great team, great coach. i’m not tryna get on my knees for the lynx or anythin like that but cheryl is also in the running for my coty pick. minny got alot of good things going for them rn and when they start to work phee back into the line up??? the league should be scared chile

Cheryl has coached three rookies of the year (Maya Moore, Napheesa Collier, Crystal Dangerfield). Maya was a generational talent and thus a shoo-in, but I don't remember either Phee or Crystal being a foregone conclusion for ROTY when they were drafted (Crystal was the COVID season so that was just atypical all around, but I also feel like Cheryl also did a great job coaching her up). When Olivia got drafted to the Lynx, my immediate reaction was that she was going to be ROTY under Cheryl. Seems like a real promising start.

It made me so nostalgic. My very first big purchase with my own allowance money was a #10 Jackie Stiles Portland Fire jersey. I'm wondering if it's still at my mom's house, though I doubt it would still fit me. I remember it was made out of this awful, non-breathable material. I wore it all the time! I wasn't even that huge of a Jackie Stiles fan (I loved Tully Bevilaqua, probably mostly because of her name) but I remember that being the only option besides a "make your own" jersey where you could put any name over the #1. Things sure have come a long way since that time. I'm glad to see those women honored. They were so important to me when I was a little basketball-obsessed preteen in the early '00s!
